Christians don't try to impress God. Christians have a set law of the Ten Commandments that they try not to break as it will send them to eternal damnation. It's not trying to impress....it's being faithful to a religion.
Christians don't put down other religions to impress God. Most other religions have some form of the same God or something like Him.

Different tribes of people do it so their women don't feel a lot of pleasure from sexual activity so they will be faithful to their male companions and only use sex for reproductive purposes.

Circumcisions aren't done as child abuse....unless that's some new radical thing parents do....chop off their sons foreskin for drawing on the wall. It's cleaner for the baby and easier to take care of as a toddler all the way up to a man. There's only a little foreskin left which one should worry about cleaning.

But female circumcision and male circumsion aren't exactly comparable. One is a relatively harmless procedure, the other is excessively painful and a tool of masculine control.

Circumcision of a man is harmless....it's not masculine control. From what I've read, babies only feel a quick snip of pain and it's pretty well over....I guess if you're a grown man having one it'd hurt like hell.

You missed my point. I was calling male circumcision relatively harmless, and female circumcision a measure of control over women by men.
