I was on campus with my shoes and socks off and this girl came up to me and said "You cant be barefoot thats for us girls" I though thats weird.

Also Its true that I've seen more girls barefoot but thats because girls tend to wear shoes without socks. Out of all the people who do wear shoes without socks I've noticed more men are likely to take the socks off too.

Perhaps she was just trying to strike up a conversation with you. It would have been the perfect opportunity to talk to her. You may have made a barefoot friend!

I would have asked why that's so.

Yup, I'm guessing she just might have been interested in meeting a guy who was barefoot in public. Maybe she was secretly a barefooter who's a bit shy about it. You could have exchanged a few words and told her about how great walking barefoot makes you feel. If people like her remain adamant about how barefooting is for girls only, tell them they should ask Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn what they think about it!

I think the OP may have missed out on meeting a potential barefoot friend.

  8. Females wearing shoes without socks, peds, or stockings was sexualized and then fetishized by men. That's why there's always an uproar about males going sockless in the workplace (as women do) because it sexualizes men's ankles (just as women's are) and...well...you know what pussies men are about their appearance in the "eyes of others"!

That "eyes of others" stuff was preached to me constantly. Hell, I was told that guys were not to wear sandals or go barefoot because that's what "hippies" and "homosexuals" do. Not sure where the folks got such an idea, and attached it to religion.
    Crazy, I know!

    Its Not Girly,

My boyfriend always is Barefoot on campus. He always takes his shoes and socks off.

I always liked removing shoe and staying in my socks until he kept asking me to try beung barefoot.

Well didnt Jesus wear sandals, and Im sure Moses wore sandals too. And I remember God telling Moses to be barefoot on holy ground so I dont think religious people can claim anything here.

Also Im a Straight Christian and I love being barefoot. So no its not just what Homosexuals do. (Tho if they want to thats cool with me)

As others have said this could have been a new barefoot friend! Sounds like it was her way to get you to make comment about being barefoot and strike up a conversation.

So do you go barefoot in public? And I mean completely barefoot - nothing on your feet.

In many stricter religious communities, every damn thing is a religious matter. Silly, but true.
