About 80% here have never paid a cent to be here. After you have been here for a while and have posted a certain number of posts, you get membership without donating but donations do help keep the site up and running so after you have been here a while you might want to consider donating. But for now why don't you just hang around and just get to know us for a while?

Just a thought, you might want to post a little about yourself in Introduce Yourself!
    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=3

Also you might want to fill out the about me in your profile.

One can also contribute without donation by clicking on the adverts.
I have my reasons on why I don't donate but I try to do my share of advert clicking for the ads I agree with.

I think this is the BEST reply ......................

............ remember the hippie ethics of ''freedom of speech''
    and ''question authority'' ???

    Those were the days !

If I said anything meaningful here it could violate the rules

    .

Funny where ppl can write stuff like this in the same breath
Sounds like a religion where you give everything to the church and get to go to heaven.

I love and hate everybody equally if I knew or payed attention who the mods admins or gold members are I'd be kissing ass.
2+2=4 whether youre rich or poor.

    "I think that."
You need to do it more.

The same reason why there were atheist popes. For power! Buahaha! *more evil laughs*

Exactly! Thats why being religious is stupid for me!

Buddhism is not a religion for those of you who don't know

I am neo hippie agnostic atheist and I am not responsible for any of science-awful history of traditional atheism.

    Who cares?

You are free to post your views. And everyone else is free to criticize them.

just speak about whatever you want to speak

If you read my post here quoting the RULES
you would be aware that members are NOT free to
    "post their views"
It can violate the rules and result in banning.

You indicate you think youre above religion which is ignoran,t the template is deeper than you [obviously] are aware of. Buddhism IS a religion saying it isnt is doublespeak, and even if it didnt begin as a religion the same could be said of all religions, anything that ends with the suffix "ISM"
    is obviously a religion.

Yes and I would state my views but that would be against the forum rules, I would sent then in a PM to the OP but sending the PM isnt allowed.
Your idea ppl are free to speak here is obviously false, as is your bragging on your superior belief systems.

As for OP's comment about antichristian agendas I see truth in this, and wonder why a NONchristian who ISNT a troll would frequent a CHRISTIAN section ... except to be a troll, which the posted rules say is what mods are here to prevent.

Do any of you ppl ever listen to yourselves ?

It makes no sense that you can't back up your debate with outside sources.

Even this atheist can admit that.

Haven't thought much about how freedom actually works have you?

Yeah right. Like atheism, racism and socialism are religions. [IMG]

The dictionary points out that "ISM" idicates "a movement, doctrine, or system of belief" and that means that the addition of "ISM" to a word does not "obviously" make it a religion as you say.

You seem to think that freedom means the ability to say anything, anywhere, at any time but you have not done your thinking on the matter. It is not true freedom to yell fire in a crowded theater when there is no fire.

Simple, a non-christian can have questions about Christianity that they would like to discuss. Personally I've talked to several and had good conversations with them that were in no way troll like.

The real question seems to be do you listen to your self? :)

As was pointed out, there is no problem with using outside sources. The problem is how much use, when a person uses outside sources in place of actual thought for discussion, this becomes a book club and not a place for discussion. :)

Exactly the rules as stated make discussion pretty much impossible. How do you discuss Christianity without quoting the bible? What constitutes proselytizing? In other forums where they have such rules, they are used as an excuse to arbitrarily and inconstantly shut down discussion. Also his overall attitude seems quite biased. He claims to oppose the suppression of free speech, yet if these rules are enforced as stated, then that is exactly what would happen (luckily it looks like by and large they haven't been enforced by the letter). As for what is responsible for the most death. Communism has killed way more than all religious wars in the past millennium combined.

maybe we should try applying the same rules to the psychedelic forum and see how that blows over.

no proselytizing -- we don't want to hear why we should try psychedelics. You like it, fine, keep it to yourself.

no witnessing -- we don't want to hear about your personal experiences with psychedelics. keep your trip reports to yourself.

no book quotes -- sorry we don't allow spam on this site. quoting over and over from ancient books by people like ram dass or timothy leary or terrence mckenna is spam. if you want to advertise a book take out an ad.

This site is not like that.
Everything is seen in context and the staff are fellow humans. In a nutshell, the only real rule is not to personally insult or bully other members.
Needles to say, promotion of terrorism and other vile behaviour is not tolerated. However, this is the law and a basic rule of the entire internet.

sure i never been reprimanded for quoting the bible on this website but the rule is posted. so it could intimidate some people into not wanting to quote the bible, or perhaps not wanting to share their experience with Christ, or tell people why they think that following Christ is the way.

    Really?
    Soviet Union, about 61,000,000
    Communist China, 1,000,000
    Cambodia, 2,000,000.
Overall total from 1900 to 1987, about 110,000,000.

    But let's go further:
    Todd Culbertson, 100 million.
John Lenczowski, between 60 million and 150 million.
    Zbigniew Brzezinski, 60,000,000.
etc. so the number is in dispute. ~ Mass killings under communist regimes

Now let's look at religious wars.
    Crusades, 1,000,000 to 9,000,000
Spanish Inquisition and European witch burning, 44,000–64,000.
The holocaust, murder (not death due to battles) of Jews, 5 6 million; Soviets, 5.7 million; Poles, 1.8 to 3 million; Serbs, 300,000 to 600,000; disabled, 270,000; Romanians, 130,000 to 500,000; Freemasons, 80,000 to 200,000; Slovaks, 20.00 to 25,000; homosexuals, 5,000 to 15,000; Spaniards, 3,500; Jehovah Witnesses, 1,250 to 5,000.
    9/11, 2,977
    Spanish conquistadors, 70 million
Invasion of India by Muslims in 1000 A.D., 80 million.

So anyway, that's just a few religious wars which go back to prehistory.

In over a decade of my asking, almost nobody knew the dictionary merely contains popular definitions. Upon further investigation, I discovered that both fundamentalists and militant atheists were encouraging everyone to argue over the definition of stupid, and suppressing any genuine salt-of-the-earth politics, in favor of supporting the wealthy and powerful. The reason this site is run by people who're anti-Christian, is because Christians and Atheists make sure nobody can stand out speaking the truth. Between them, they basically control the mass media, academia, most corporations, and the government, and could obviously not care less about anyone else, and prefer to fight over Donald Duck or whatever.

Thankfully, both populations have been imploding faster than any on the planet for half a century, and I'm working on automating encouraging the idiots to kill themselves and each other faster.

Without such basic rules, people would be free to quote the bible out of context in order to stir up hatred and division and that is the last thing that we want.

I personally trust this site to maintain a balance of views among people who discuss issues in a mature and sensible way.

and no, it is not biggotry to push back against equating fascism with christianity,
though there is what i believe to be one error they share in common
and that is the place of wishing to be feared.

for my own part, i susbscribe to neither, though i have no problem with the man who was christ,
nor whatever gods there might be,
nor with buddha, krsna, lao tsu and the rest, baha'u'llah included.

just that people telling each other what to pretend, i don't feel to be entirely honest.
and that's what bibles, korans and the rest happen to be.

telling people what to pretend has absolutely nothing to do,
with whatever god or gods anyone might try to tell anyone else what to pretend about.

faith that something exists beyond the physical is fine. i feel that myself too.
but not when people insist such things have to be their way, to exist at all.
