_I know people, even seen here @ the forums, amazing tattoos w/lots of meaning placed on the lower back. Sometimes the lower back is the best place for a piece.
I have a tattoo on my lower back. I got it in 98. It covers a scar caused by exploritory cancer surgery. Turns out I had blood cancer that was eatting away my lower vertabra. I won... beat the cancer with only a couple scars to show for it. The tattoo symbolizes my victory over a dehabilitating disease. Sorry some of you find it's placement annoying. Some people do have tattoos that are "fashionable". But give the people who frequent this forum some credit.
I can understand where you're coming from in a way. I don't have any tattoos, and I will never have any. My husband has one on his bicep, and I think it looks very sexy on him, but I think that (sometimes) tattoos on women can distract from their natural beauty. I suppose it also depends on what type of tattoo you're talking about. My little 17 year old sister who just graduated from high school this past weekend is planning on getting a tattoo on her back in the very near future. I don't try to persuade her otherwise, because it's her body and her personal decision. I have not even once said anything negative to her about it because if this is something that she wants to do, I'm not going to get on her case about it. All I want to do is make sure she goes to a reputable place to have it done for her safety. She has had many body piercings that have come and gone however throughout the years. Which brings me to the fact that unless you pay a high sum of money to have your tattoos removed, you're stuck with them here on out. With piercings, you have the "safety net" of being able to remove your studs/rings/etc. and letting your skin heal over the punctures. However, I must agree with so many of the others on this thread that have stated that tattoos have been around for ages and they are definitely not going anywhere. To each their own. I have female friends who have quite a few tattoos on their bodies, and I have in fact accompanied them when they had the tattoos done. Did I think any less of them? No, not at all. I just know that I myself would not get one.
i like tattoos... altho the one above the ass has been over done.. i think they can look cute.. the common tattoos arent that cool though... barbed wire around yer bicep, thing above yer ass, s'been done to death.
suggesting that lower back tattoos have been done to death has been done to death if you dont like tatttoos, dont get one and you shouldnt care how others chooose to decorate their body, no matter what their intentions
Wow, I didn't think my post would create such an intense reaction. All I have to say is that it felt liberating for me to voice an opinion that doesn't seem too popular nowadays. Some people did, I think, overreact. I never claimed I wouldn't date a girl with a tattoo. I think that kind of attitude would be somewhat superficial. But all other things equal, I think people tend to look better without tattoos. I have nothing against tattoos that have sentimental value or are meaningful, nor against those used in some cultures. Some tattoos even look good. I just think that some women are so naturally beautiful and they don't need to put ink on their bodies. In many cases it takes away from their beauty. In my view a type of innocence is taken away when some women get tattoos: they are permanently walking around with a fashion advertisement. Now I know it's been argued, and rightly, that tattoos have existed for thousands of years, but there is a fashion trend that I find unappealing right now. The post starting this thread merely stated an opinion, and was not meant to insult anybody.
i have to agree tattoo have lost meaning to many people get them and either hate them or there just stupied my friend just got a chinese symbol for dangerus on his arm which i find stupied, but i think if there is a reason for getting a tattoo like symbolizes a time in your life or something spritual like thats fine i dont think some tattoo have been over done
the thing is, your body is yours. do what you want with it. if anybody tells you that your stupid for what you do then they are just simple minded assholes (this is not aimed at people who are just expressing thier opinion peacefully). if you want to put a big cock on your forehead. knock yourself out.
nothing is cool about barbed wire haha... i dont care about tattoos at all, even if its a thing above the ass tattoo... i just seem to see them everywhere lately.
i know what you guys mean about the "ditzy college girls" and stuff.....i've seen that more than enough where they all go and get them in the same place and they all look the same. yeah, that's frustrating....especially when there's people like icedtea who have theirs on their lower back for a meaningful reason, and she may just be depicted as another ditzy girl who wanted to be like everyone else. that's not fair. but boss is right, it's their bodies...let them do as they please. it's sad that something like this could be a trend, but you never know what's going to happen. if more people just got them for meaningful reasons and not just because it's the new thing to do, then i think that there'd be a lot better attitude towards them.
1) They make you look cool and sophisticated2) They show that you are an intellectual and not a tool of the man3) Women love men with a tattoo of another woman's name4) Men love women who name their body parts with a tattoo5) Your parents wouldn't want you to do it6) Cap'n Astronaut sez DO IT NOWhttp://home.kc.rr.com/microdisney/
Not all tattoos look great on everyone who gets them. I got a weird thought a few days ago: what are some of these people going to look like 50 years from now in nursing homes or whatever and their bodies follow the law of gravity?
_Wrinkled w/ink. Pretty much like non-tattooed people w/a little something extra to tell the grandchildren about.
