I am homeless and I am 110% sure I have a better and more interesting life than you. Asshole.

 

Being Homeless was somewhat interesting, I dont reccomend it.

 

A good friend of mine is homeless. Cameron, hes about 50 years old, hes an ex biker. Had a job building bikes from scrap and from scratch. Hes been on the streets of Cork for about 5 years. Cant get a job because job losses here were 3,600 a day at one point and thats for qualified people, not someone with no phone number, legit qualifications or even an address.

He also has an inoperable brain tumour that will eventually lead to his death on the streets. This sickens and saddens me. Whenever im in the city I seek him out just to hang out with him, buy him lunch and smoke with him. Hes a great guy and someone who I'd consider a dear friend.
Heroin in Cork has become a terrible problem recently, being one of the worst cities in Europe at the moment. He used to be a gear head and because of sleeping in the Simon (a community run hostel for the homeless) where every single person there is a gear head, he's slipped back into it. He told me, in tears that he doesnt want to be like this. He doesnt want to sleep on the streets which is better than sleeping in the Simon. He doesnt want to die on the streets with his brain haemorrhaging doped out of his mind.

Do you think he wants to live like this? He cant help the situation hes in because theres no one to help him, no one that wants to help him.

I hope you have to live like this one day

 

wow, i didnt read this whole thread but all i can say is wow on the OP.

between now and september 4.4 million people are going to lose unemployment benefits in a economy that is not capable of absorbing that number back into the work force. there certainly isnt public housing or shelters available to keep all this number off the streets.

soon the homeless encampments are going to swell with men,women, and families who are victims of this economic downturn and have wound up homeless through no fault of their own.. and your just going to lump them in with the professional bums??

i duno what else to say, except your obviously very close minded and that you mustn't have met many homeless people.

 

While much of what you've said is true and I like the soylent green idea;
many homeless suffer from mental illness which makes them ill equipped to

Well, when adding to a conversation, is it not annoying to repeat the same thing over and over? Not only is this topic not being discussed anymore,
but your argument has already been stated several times. To actually add something new to it and post with purpose, reading what has already been posted will allow you to see that it has been said and replied to, and saying it again is just a nuisance.
