Why I don't argue/debate Christians anymore

Why are you so special campbell? How come im not haunted by evil demon spirits? Why doesnt everyone hear mysterious "african tribal drums" at some point in their lives? Im sure you have a very good explanation for this, so im not even sure why i asked..after all youve got an explanation for everything, no matter how nutty.

I had discovered that when I was young boy a man laid hands on me a prayed for these spirits to enter my body, they call this transference. If I had never sought a closer walk with Christ, I would never of discovered how they were involved in my life. When you take a stand for Christ, things start to happen, because you are in a world that opposes God. The reason many people are not involved in such spiritual battles, is because many of them are of the world. Now, I'm not saying everyone will experience what I went through. Yet I believe the Devil has many people where he wants them, and so there is no reason for spiritual battles. It's only when you go across the grain, that the friction is realized. If you should ever take a stand for Christ, you will find out what I'm talking about. And that is why the Bible states in Ephesians 6:12, "that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

 

It can as easily be said that the wind blows because of the divine will, and to beat to windward opposes the divine.

 

The world doesn't oppose god. If god created the world, why would it? Why would it anyways? People may (they don't), but that would just mean you could be a hermit and be just fine. You are not a victim. Christians always fight as though they are oppressed, but they are usually the oppressors.

I'm probably not going to take a stand for christ anytime soon, so please describe to me what you're talking about.

 

If the world did not oppose God, there would be no abortion, no murder, no wars, no aids, no crime, no prostitution, no illegal drugs, no prisions, there would be so many no's the world does not do, I could not list them all. This world would be far different place than we see today. If you have never taken a stand for Christ, you would not even consider the effects of sin, and that is why you could make the statement you did. The fact is, how many times do people talk about the love of God, how many times do people base their moral views on Gods Word. Most of the world does not have a personal relationship with God, and that is how the world opposes God. By living lifestyles of indifference to Gods calling, the world has gone it's own way. And this is why we live in a world of such injustice for so many.

I have only recently questioned christianity. I have "stood up for CHrist" for more than half of my life, and never have i heard any demonic voices. Ive visited Rome, all of the churches, the house of st francis, all of which strengthened my faith, prayed every night for at least 5 years of my life, and not once have i been "tested by spirits". I guess im just one of the lucky ones.

 

At the same time, if an individuals pathway is the only way for them to know God, you cannot tell them that it is not the only way to God (for them).

 

If you give your life to Christ, and if you have lived a life that does not honor God, a true believer will change his lifestyle. No true Christian should ever have to prostitute themselves to put food on the table, because Christ has promised to take care of our needs. And any Christian who loves the Lord would not spend his days getting high on drugs. Jesus has stated that many will worship Him with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. It is a Christians duty to avoid things that would bring dishonor to Christ. Jesus told us that if you have a light, you let it shine so all can see it, and will give glory to God. If your lifestyle imbraces darkness, there will be little light to shine.
The only true path to God, will only be found in His Son, Jesus Christ.

 

marijuana is a plant, made directly by god. and everything god made was good, accept evil which comes from humans as you say. So whats wrong with marijuana??
and are you saying that only people who dont *truly* believe in god starve??

 

A true Christian accepts the gifts of the lord, whether they be drugs, food, or companionship. It is not what enters the man which corrupts him, it is that which he says (which is against the lord and the gifts the lord brings to the man).

 

God made grapes, but gives strong warnings about the abuse of drinking. After watching friends who used Marijuana for many years, I could see it took away their motivation, and clouded their thinking. It also appears to impair their spiritual side. God encourages the reknewing of our minds, not the dumbing down of them.
I'm saying if you are a true christian, and ask God for help, He will help you.

 

Campbell, I'll strongly second you position on drugs and excessive drinking. We're the same age, and like you, I've seen a long trail of serious damage from these.
They definitely numb out the natural subtle spiritual faculties and impair real receptivity for prayer and meditation. Marijuana may give an illusion of spiritual awareness, but it's all over when the effects wear off and you're just left with more brain damage.

 

another words smoke pot for jesus is safer than alcohol . either way you are still brain washed.

 

I would have to go back and re-read the passage but I do believe Weeds are said to be a 'curse' on mankind.
If Marijuana is a Weed variety then you can call it a curse then heh.
But seriously - this whole idea that 'God made it so lighting it on fire and inhaling the smoke for a drugged feeling is good' is not exactly the best idea yet.

Seriously for a minute.
During those crucial years of development 14-18 (brain development AND emotional etc) I smoked a lot of weed. Of course, it was a great way to get lots of sleep and thats about it.
Otherwise, every hour being high is another hour NOT spent struggling, thinking practically or growing as a human being.
It most definately had a negative impact on my cognitive thinking skills, comprehension speed and even motor-skills.

After I quit smoking weed and found myself the only sober one - I could most definately see the 'dumbing down' my mates were going through the more and the longer they smoked up.
Granted - some people have a high tolerance and handle it better while others will become highly paranoid, upset and disturbed on weed.
Even the ones with the higher tolerances DO dumb down.
One of the more serious weed smokers in our group (at least once a day) had a talk with me one night.
I gracefully pointed out to him (using my own experience) that he was now finding himself in what we called 'Weed Brain mode' all the time.
See... whats happens is that after 4-5 hours of being 'high' the mind, in a sense is becoming trained to think that way.
Accustomed anyways.

When your high thats expected.
But
He was thinking that way so often that even when he was not high his mind still thought in those ways.
That would be great if it was helpful to sorta 'zone out' or 'think up crazy shit' at work or while making important life decisions but its not.

So nobody is gonna make a big deal about occasional weed or something like that but if you want to smoke it daily - it is dumbing you down.
Ive yet to meet anyone who is not dumbing themselves down eventually.
(Daily users Im talking about).

A mans inner spiritual darkness is revealed by the words that come from the upwelling of spiritual darkness within his heart. Those who judge against gifts from God do not please God. They live farther from the lord (in their hearts) because of their judgement against God's kindness. When a person says 'God will hurt me if I accept these gifts' or they call a blessing a curse, they show their lack of faith in God.

"When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full."

 

Alright but look Kharakov.. if you dont mind I have to say this:
Do what is right and good.
IF you are smoking weed and find yourself paying less attention to those around you and its impairing your judgement - then that is not a 'gift' from God is it?
There does not need to be a deep discussion on what is, or is not a 'Gift' when its often as self-evident as drugs.
Driving your kids to school while being stoned is pretty obviously not 'Gods Will' when its endangering lives.
Being 'Too High' to go to Mass again is not 'A Gift from God'.

So much of this is obvious.

 

Obviously abuse of anything isnt good.
