Why I believe in God...

The only argument I have is mainstream Christianity's idea of, "by simply believing in Jesus Christ we are saved." Churches of today like to pick one easy scripture of the Bible and dwell on it. However, they are sadly mistaken. Faith requires works, because without works, when you stand before Christ on judgement day, what are you going to tell him? ..... "Well I just had faith". And?.............The whole entire Bible shows us how we should live as Christians. Not just a verse or two. Of course you have to believe, but you also have to repent, and be baptized, and be filled with the holy spirit as well.

Entering into Heaven is based on your faith, your works, your life. How strong was your faith? Did you really have a relationship with God? Did you witness to others and spread the gospel? Did you show mercy to others when God himself showed you mercy? Did you show that you loved God by living the kind of lifestyle you should? Did you try to reach others? That will be what determines you entering into Heaven.

Most pastors/preachers want to tell you that all you have to do is believe. The Bible itself says, "Even the demons believe." The path to Heaven is, "straight and narrow." It's not an easy place to get into.

As far as, "The world hates you because it hated me", is true. Once you give your life to God, you aren't part of this world anymore. When you are saved by both water and spirit, and you become part of God's kingdom, people will look at you differently. The world won't accept you in the same way many don't accept Jesus Christ. But that's alright because you have been choosen to teach, preach, guide, and above all, LOVE. However, you are here to please the Lord, not man.

 

Neither does most of the world... the Bible says only a slight few will go to heaven although everyone has the opportunity.... they simply decide not to believe.

Saying something like, "I know the true God" is just as insane as believing that you are God.

And it is the biggest excuse mankind has ever come up with for large scale slaughter and persecution.

Fuck religion.

Well I didnt take the time to read that yet, either. How many of you did? Basically the only reason i see in believing anything is if your heart tells you its true. To each his own, like someone said....i like that.

Personally, i've questioned my beliefs and i found that its pretty arrogant to not believe in god. To just outright deny the possibility of his existence. I mean, how do we know? We don't. Really. We all die though, and we've been given life somehow...I think thats pretty amazing. If somebody i knew had the power to create life I would worship them...and since we'll never know for sure until we're done here i'm willing to devote some portion of my life to him... because im grateful for what he may have given me.

A heart. A mind. And a body....None of these things were made my man. Religion was. So I trust myself more than religion, im totally rambling.

Wouldn't it be convenietnt if it was that easy, to dissassociate fom the rest of theworld...the fact is you cannot, and you are absolutely delusional to think so, we are ALL in this place together....

Of course... faith without works is dead. You can't be a Christian on faith alone. I'm always looking for something more to contribute to, and I am part of church body that is very active in the community. I find it sad when churches are all talk, but no action.

How have I seperated my self fromt he common world?? I went to a public school. I have non-christian friends. I played on various sports teams where I was the only christian. The only thing that seperates me from the world is the way I live my life.

You have still not replied to my assertion that Jesus denounced religion in the Sermon on the Mount. At the very least, he denounced the hypocrisy of public prayer.

And I noticed you had no real reply to my last post either. There's a word for people who believe they know the truth. Even Jesus noted these types. The word is ARROGANT!

For someone your age, you really should find Christ before time runs out, you have great worth in God's eyes.

 

He was in the world the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
He was a humble man, but He is a mighty God, who will not be humble when He returns.

 

Could you answer this question? Who made everything, was it Jesus or His Father?
