On topic: people drive drunk/high because it seems the cheapest and easiest option at that time to get home/to another place. Especially when they have succeeded in it before it seems like it is worth the risk. Of course when it goes wrong it appears it was not the cheapest option. It appears though that this does not always means people will stop doing it :p

I never said pot I just said drugs. I honestly don't consider weed something that get's you high the same way other things do. I'm thinking more along the lines of people dropping a few tabs of acid or some mdma or something that really does affect your judgement and then thinking they can drive.

I should have been more specific. I kind of forget weed is a drug sometimes. Although some people are just as messed upon weed as anything else.

When you're stoned it mainly slows down your reaction time. This may not become apparent after 2 hits but when you smoked 2 good joints and then go drive and get subjected to unexpected traffic situations people will respond different than if they would be sober. It may not be so much their judgement that is impaired but that doesn't matter when you are 2 times as slow in making the proper decision in an unexpected situation.

Why do people drive drunk? For the same reason other people drive stoned. They think they can pull it off and it is the most convenient way without spending extra money. Does this mean driving drunk is the same as driving stoned, or on xtc, speed or mdma? No, not exactly but they all do affect our driving skills in a way that increases risk.

If you smoke synthetic weed, you may not even open the door of the car so it is quite out of question to be able to drive the car :D

Well some people drive very stupidly when sober.
But they are very sensible drivers when drunk/high.
I mean, surely you'd rather they drive sensibly yes?

If they can't drive properly when sober I rather have they don't drive at all.

No. That would be illegal. And I'm sure no-one here has ever done anything illegal.

Anyway, my point was that many drivers are less risky when drunk/high.
And I'm all about reducing risks. :coolgleamA:

    Rofl this made my day.

It also made me think about this guy I saw when I was in North Bay once. His mode of transportation was a bed on wheels and a stick! According to the friend I was visiting there, he always gets around that way.

Why? It's relaxing and fun as hell! I drive high, don't drink, but always high. I ride motocross high, race or practice.

I can get stoned and still retain my reflexes and never have a duh moment. Drunks, well they will be drunk all day/night, liquid courage, all sorts of stupid shit comes from alcohol. It don't go away like a buzz does, you are not able to function and if you can, you're an alcoholic!
