what i posted isnt just 1 meeting, its a movement dedicated to ending the war.

the "protest" you see is our first meeting, nothing more.
but you can expect the crazy, passive, war & pro-war supporter protests to come about.

we're gonna do it like our parents & grand parents did, much like some of you on this forum.

    the yippies are back everyone.
    fuck the war.

Most people don't do anything because they are ignorant, either by choosing to be so or becuase only half the views are readily available without looking (The news). People want to see everything is okay, so they do. People choose not to see how things really are and thus doing so choose to change anything. All you have to do is force people to open their eyes, but doing so is the tricky part...

it may seem tricky, but i've devoted 5 years to monitoring people, their reactions, their lifestyles, and their dreams.

you will be very surprised to see how easy it is to open people's eyes!

Not if people are keeping themselves blind to what is going on. Or perhaps better stated, those who bury their heads in the sand- it'll be pretty hard to open their eyes.

    Peace and love

I think the main reason so many do not see is that people are afraid to see. If you doubt the line of crap that is being foisted upon us by the coporate media, the alternative, that we are all being played, is terrifying. So many seem to simply will themselves to accept the bullshit as if it was true, even though it is obviously not.

have you all forgotten about taking it to the streets? has the digital age wiped peoples mind of real protest?

i am 18 years old, i wasnt alive when the civil rights activists of the 20th century were active, but even i know that if you want change... you need to be extreme, be loud, put your voice out there.

hit the streets of your local community and be LOUD.

    this isnt a hopeless cause!

I agree. Aside from marching in protest of the war, I hatched a concept for targeting the news media. There is the concept of news tips. People can contact them with what they think is news. For example, I ran an inexpensive ad in a local college paper about the fact that Bush does not attend any funerals for American soldiers. I put this in the personals section. LOL! I included a phone number for more information on this fact, and the number was the news department of the paper in which I ran the ad! I made fliers and distributed them obsessively, focusing on any given untouched issue and targeting the media with contact numbers. Other people were doing it too. The idea is that if hundreds of thousands of people target the media nonviolently and legitimately, I believe you can raise awareness. They work for us, according to the constitution. They are our collective voice, and that voice has been perverted. If enough people speak to them, the media landscape can change, and then everything else can fall into place.

"oh yea, and we're starting a magazine" Cool! And thank you. I used to write for an alternative newsweekly where I live. I have finally created a Boston T.V. Party thread about the concept I mention above in regard to the latest budget bullshit.

i'm sorry if i'm slamming your topic to the side, but i cant stress enough how much free thinkers should take interest in the Y.I.P. its all about ending the war, being happy, and spreading the peace through crazy humor and war mockery

its the yippie movement from the 60's reincarnate.

we will bring back love, society, arts, and the death of money (atleast temporarily), we just need to get people out of their boxes, once they see others standing for a cause more will join

As I am under 18, it is hard to start much of a movement where I am, but if anyone has anything going on in Cali (Preferably central) I would help as much as I could. Being a minor restricts your access to a bit of stuff as well as respect from the majority of people. >.> Being an adult should be judged on maturity, not age.

"Being an adult should be judged on maturity, not age." Well said. When I was 14 I had this idea called the Maturity Card. You could earn it, or not, at any age.

I wish there was actually something like that. I may not be physically mature as everyone, but mentally I believe I am superior to many people in our society (Sorry to sound narcissistic, but I don't think it is hard to be more mature than many adults in today's society in America...)

And believe me, I will do everything I can to save America. I just know that people that follow the same train of though as I do is a minority in our nation, and we have to be able to speak louder than the majority.

    Y.I.P. could be the asnwer.

Things have changed. Today they stand up for the national anthem and the singing of 'God Bless America' every 7th inning ever since 9/11.

For what my opinion is worth here, I'm not sure you're the minority you perceive yourself to be. I think there are a lot of people who don't buy any of it. But they will create the illusion to the contrary. Like showing teary-eyed tards singing to the national anthem even as Bush's protestors are routinely kept out of camera range at his appearances. A sort of ex-friend of mine, ex-military and never saw any action, who became an armchair general during the first season of that Iraq miniseries, has actually finally conceded that, gee, maybe the war wasn't such a good idea. It wasn't a cakewalk as expected and they did not welcome our murderous invasion with open arms. What a shocker.
