I really like that one song "Take the Long Way Home." I don't see how anyone who didn't go to high school in the late 70s could care enough about them one way or the other, and no one hails them as artistic geniuses. Do you ever hear any music besides classic rock radio? I will seriously make you a mix tape if you're interested.
"Take The Long Way Home" is the best song on Breakfast In America, and it's one of my favorite Supertramp songs. I love the lyrics: "And then your wife thinks your'e part of the furniture, part of the scenery, oh what a calamity...." I don't lsiten to classic rock radio, i find it too commercial. I prefer to listen to the oldies station on AM. I prefer AM over FM. Also I don't just lsiten to classic rock and I listen to mostly my cd's, I hardly listen to the radio especially since now where I live their doesn't exist an oldies station. You can make me a mix tape, but what i'm wondering is how will you deliver it to me?
Well first of all, they are bigger in Europe that they are in the U.S. Second, they WERE, a progressive rock band, even though they were commercial. They had several hits, not just 1, definitely not, maybe in the U.S, I don't know. But they basically invented accessible prog-rock... I like them, I have all of their albums... my favorite is Crisis? What Crisis?
Progressive Rock is not for everyone, it is a much more sophisticated and complicated genre of music. It also tends to be more depressing and thus not radio or commercially friendly.
Haha! That "Give A Little Bit" song was a fooking hit over here, man. And like I said, it was bloody annoying to hear ot over and over again.
Progressive Rock? My arse! ELP, Yes... are Progressive Rock bands but these Give-A-Little-Bit-dudes? Don't make me laugh! LOL!
quote Progressive Rock is not for everyone Right, but if someone doesn't like it, you post a moron's remark like "fuck you"
they had hits too by the way, I'm old enough to remember them...though I don't base my whole identity on that era
Supertramp were always shite. They were shite in their heyday and they are even more shite now. That's it in essence
I love supertramp....take a look at my girlfriend, shes the only one I got, not much of a girlfriend, never seem to get a lot....dum dee duh dumm...
I get a real kick out of this guy. He tells us that ST didn't have any hits, then he says they had a few hits. He asked if Led Zep had any hits, then proceeds to knock that back, too. He also says prog isn't for everyone, then goes freakaliciously fascist when someone says it's not their cup of tea. Regular person + anonymity = screaming shit of a fat-headed jackarse... No offense intended. PS: I don't like Supertramp all that much. :3
give www.progarchives.com a try. it has so many more awesome late 60s/early 70s bands (beyond the dozen or so that ppl always mention)..some of which sound similar to supertramp..like ambrosia or roxy music or babe ruth.
