Why does rascism exist?

I only know what it's like to live as a middle class white person, so I don't feel very entitled to an opinion as far as cherea's ideas are concerned.

 

I don't assume that Cherea has been discriminated against because of his race.
But I know that I have been almost killed because of mine. That's why I can't be completely sincere when someone takes the "racism because of racism" approach.

 

Yeah, you can't really justify any sort of racism.

 

I know, to perpetuate it because of a perceived wrong is just to perpetuate the wrong that was originally felt.

 

But at the same time, Elijah's idea that the white race is threatened is kind of lulzy from my perspective.

But so is the opposite sentiment.

 

I don't consider myself racist at all. Does that count for anything?

Well maybe not just stupidity, More like ignorance and conditioning. People tend to have racism "passed on" to them through parents, friends and other relatives, influences mainly. But nobody can deny that racism is stupid though

It's always so hard to take you seriously on this point because frankly you're in a higher class than I am, socially, educationally and economically.

my moms one of those people that kinda gushes over black people. But you have tounderstand her history, which most people wouldn't bother to think about since she's white. The best times, best friends and best advocates she ever had were her bosses, friends and my dads commanding officers in the navy. She went from being a fairly ostracized wild thing in white southern Illinois to a fully embraced crazy white girl in navy housing. I guess that might be why I have a hard time wrapping my head fully around the racial divide and still get all shifted out on the topic.

I wouldn't doubt it if you said that you had been though.
