On a whole, they're drawn to the position because it gives a sense of authority and higher pay than most high school drop outs would usually be able to attain.

And they're departments are told regularly to combat traffic as a higher priority than fighting crime because traffic tickets generate revenue for the city.

    I'm all for safe roads.

But by and whole most of the police officers I've met were bad people.

Relax TopNotch. I doubt too many will even click on those videos.

Just because skip made it easy doesn't mean you should kick a good pope down while he's shitting in the woods or something...

I don't give a fuck if people click on them or not, but those cops deserve to have their skin peeled off, then they should be decapitated after being forced to watch their families being murdered. FUCK the police.

I don't know why this pissed me off so much. I know there are more important things going on in the word at the moment but this really sucks.

This kind of shit pisses me off too. I guess all those residents where given a notice that nothing can be seven feet from the pavement. So you still can't put anything in your own lawn.

I'd probably be arrested from strangling that bitch.

There are certain personality types that should not be given authority or weapons. Unfortunately it does happen not only with police but all facets of life.

While I do feel that there are some officers who should be removed from duty, I also feel that there are a majority who do what they should do which is to protect.

The people in real time that I have known that had issues with the police did not have the best personal attitude either. Perhaps that in part was their problem in dealing with the police.

This definitely has the ring of truth to it... it's much the same with most other interpersonal problems and personality clashes- the victim him/herself plays a role in creating any incident... but these days it seems the everyone is encouraged to lay all their problems somewhere besides themselves.

Corruption was much more common back then. I think if you go to a country in south america for example and have to deal with the police you get a glimpse of what it was like in the U.S. half a century ago.

There is certainly truth to the South American part of your statement as I have dealt with obvious shakedowns from cops there. Usually its as simple as giving them money if thats their demand. Asking for name, badge number and their superior often works if you are in a crowded situation. Not so much if you're isolated. While adopting one of my sons a cop tried to prevent me from entering the airport saying didn't have the right paperwork for my son. I asked in a somewhat loud voice how much money he wanted. People around me stared at the cop who then let me pass...just a game.

I'm very glad for law enforcement. Just the other night, I had an altercation with a crazy crackhead, where the cops were called. Perhaps some would say they provide a false sense of security, but I disagree. Of course, I'm pretty much a law abiding citizen, so my view point is going to differ from a lot of those who aren't.

Just because humans created it, doesn't mean its in favor of human nature. It may be in our nature to lock up the bad eggs but the rhetoric tricks people into judgment due to things that humans will inevitably do. Take drugs, pay for sex, even saying certain things about the government. It casts thousands into the depths of darkness for offenses that aren't harmful to anyone but themselves.

Its in human nature to self destruct, either directly or in-directly, drugs or unprotected sex. If they can stop you from doing this, it goes against human nature.

I'm not offering a solution. Or wait...maybe we could make drug addicts wear shirts that say "Drug Addict", suicidal people will wear a shirt that says "Suicide", people with STD's will be required to wear a shirt that says "I'm contagious". That way people know who to stay away from, and it would save the government a lot of money on jails, handcuffs and probation legislation.

No, because it is in their nature to try and stop you.
Nature is a set of rules and laws that can not be escaped. In anyway, ever. Or else it wouldn't be nature. It's inherent in the word's definition.

I'm not disagreeing with you that it's wrong, or authoritarian, or anything like that. But nature is how shit works; period.
I like that solution, but I already own some Hendrix shirts =P
