well you know is very very hard to fool some one ears specially when you hear it and compare it with others.
there was recently a charity concert, waveaid, which was a tsunami help appeal we saw kasey chambers the waifs pete murray missy higgins a collective group of the leading aussi performers who played evie by stevie wright these guys.. the two guys from crowded house.. they were awesome john butler trio nick cave silverchair powederfinger midnight oil! and that was the first time i really felt prowd of humans. because it was a charity function it was very relaxed. most of it was during the day just chillin, havin a smoke. unlike previous concerts ive been to where they charge extortionist prices for water and dissalow various things inside, for this they were supplying people with water there were some cricket games in the crowd no violence at all, or bad crowd bewhavior (though i felt sorry for nick cave caus heaps of people didnt know who he was lol) the roving camera kept looking at women's breasts and making crude remarks about lots of things it was plain and simple and great. because the staff were mostly volenteering of course and everyone was nice and happy yay though it was expensive.. but someone else bought my ticket. and we saw some awesome bands lol to get into the front section you needed a yellwo armband so i crafted a fake one out of a yellow cardboard box and a heap of rolling papers
one band from the 90s i really hated to see break up was Candle Box in the song 10.000 horses sends shiver down my spine the guy had a great voice with a little touch of robert plant. also Happy Pills but they were never able to muster more hits like those 2.

if it makes me groove, i'm listening. and let's not overlook phish. mmk? they kept it alive in the 80's and 90's
Why do old people listen to todays music? Because they can, and why the fuck not, music is music, it doesn't matter what era its from, the feelings and connatations connected to it by the listeners are generally the same.
well who ever posted that is a retard.. & on the subject todays music ain't got the same soul... not liek that old time rock & roll
there's a reason it was called the 'golden age of music' because music was amazing and musicians were amazing. I love most genres across all time periods but if you can't appreciate that whatever music you're listening to has it's roots then whats the point? The punk movement wouldn't have happened without kids getting bored of traditional rock and roll and turning it on it's head, so it wouldn't have happened without rock and roll. Likewise metal (Black Sabbath anyone?), and even grunge, Kurt Cobain was a huge Neil Young fan.
PUNK was born becouse rock got way to mellow and politicaly correct . but punk was nothing great other than if you were having fun at the time. metal is nothing but rock music but label "metal" singing about some dark stuff that was allready done in many ways in 1970 by sabbath take a black sabbath song from 1970 with out any body knowing about it and let metallica sing it and they would swear it was legit metal song by metallica. of course the metal heads dont want hear about it.
well punk has it's place in music, I'm not a punk fan but I love the Ramones and the Clash. What I'm trying to say is any arguments that say original rock and roll is pointless to listen to and we should all just listen to modern music are null and void because good old rock and roll is the root of all modern music.
i grew up on oldies and i just have a thing for it. i know all kinds of songs and whenever i hang out at a BBQ with my dad's friends and i start singing some songs on KHITS or something, they always find it cool that i "know and respect good music". i do still listen to more modern alternative rock that my parents hate. peace & love.
The fact that there are still many youngsters today who like music from the '60/'70's era, only proves how exeptionally the music from that time was. It stuck for two generations, and that is some prestation in these times. Sadly, there are still a lot of people of my age who never heard a Beatles-song. They regard rap as music. So not every youngster still listens oldies.
NOT EVERY BODY is born with good ears for music . and only consider hip what going on the very last minute.
Same here. A lot of youngsters here dislike the beatles and say they were just some kind of boring 'pop' band. They should hear 'Tomorrow Never Knows', 'Helter Skelter' or 'I am the Walrus'. That would change their mind...
