Yeah we can do the battle of the list if you want...but the question's not there...look at the bands you wrote all without exeption are influenced by 60' or 70's bands

Pearl Jam is an under Led Zep
Soundgarden & Nine Inch Nails are Black Sabbath dirty sons
and even System of a Down leader told that he listen a lot of "Zombies" songs !!!?
It's strange but all those guys know where the good music was

You definitly need to take some LSD and hear Surrealistic Pillow by The Jefferson Airplane...if you still cold it's maybe that you're a cold girl lol...no seriously i always told that since the early 90's rock was back but not as good and as strong as in the second part of the 60's and seventies experimentation of sounds... Now you've got good bands (not as in the 80's) but sadly they sound for the majority too much the same... I like a lot of modern bands but the majority of jewels are in the golden age as the most part of rock critics call it...
If professional of the rock history told this...is maybe that you listen to the wrong decade

Music has always been influenced by what comes before it- the music of the 60s by the music of the 50s, and on and on until you get back to the blues, and arguably, before that. Oldies are great, but there's a ton of music today that's great too. Back in the 60s, though, you had bands like the Beatles topping the charts, and now you have...well, not quite so stellar artists (for the most part) on top 40 charts. Nonetheless, there's a ton of great stuff that doesn't make radio stations and billboard charts today.

I responded b4 but I forgot what I said... I love Oldies! Screw you if you don't approve, I'd rather have Creedence Clearwater Revival than jessica simpson anyday. It's not because it's old it's because it's good.

I just happen to like certain music regardless of when it was released. New or old. Get over it. -.-

I agree, I think that [most] of todays music is not creative and it all sounds the same and is all about the same thing. Oldies have plots, different melodies, different styles, different messages. I think there was more variety.

Also I am sick of hearing about sex in candy shops, and getting all up on her in a club.

maybe if some of us could actually get cds out it would change but i dont know what else.

the music then seems so much more innovative than now, everything was relatively fresh and new. i also reckon that the top rock 40 or whatever was aweeeeeeeesomely good compared to today where bands like greenday "rock haaaaaaaaard maaaaaaaaan"

There was bad music in the 60's and 70's, a lot less of it but it was there. There are a lot of good songs that have been made since the 70's.

It's all about TASTE I think, and what people were exposed to in Childhood.
I like it all! From "Big Band" to Barry Manilow, to The Mama's & Papa's, to Coolio!
    What do YOU like?

I like good music, and I don't give a flying phuck if it was recorded in 1965 or 2005.

I see nothing wrong with that. Even "oldies" groups learned from earlier music. As B.B. King said in a 10 part documentary (The History of Rock and Roll) "Those legends show you how it's done"
