I think it was watching Star Wars that first got me into science-fiction books - I started reading Star Wars novels first. I love the adventure of it, and the excitement of discovering new worlds, new technologies, and new alien creatures. It's a lot of fun as well as eye-opening. And it does teach us a lot about possible futures and what could go wrong for us in the future.
I used to read a lot of Sci-Fi and fantasy in my teens,as I've always been a massive fantasist and escapist. But I haven't really read any Sci-Fi for a long time now,and I don't recognise any of the newer writers when I occasionally look in the book shops. All Of the writers I used to like have disappeared.I've become more interested in how the real world has become more Sci-Fi,and watching the polarity between utopia and dystopia play itself out,as we head into this uncertain future.
