Why do they wear pants on Star Trek?

I personally doubt people would be having sex all over the place if such a change in dresscode occurred. Same with defecating on the holodeck (even if it would remain rare and frowned upon). I just think some people here are making up concerns because it is an too alien idea for them.

 

Most places in the modern world are climate controlled too but we dont take off our pants when we go inside somewhere

I understand why we aren't doing it now and on this planet. But in the 24th century I expect a lot of changes, especially on a spaceship. If you notice the grey aliens don't wear pants either.

in most media future fiction, and i find this unfortunate, there is an assumption that humans, well even there being humans is almost a bit of an assumption, the humans will continue to be collectively narcissistic about their species, even once they've seen a universe in which if they have any sanity they would learn better. of course that's about the audience they're written for, to attract and sell entertainment to. in real literary fiction about science, there's at least a partial liberation from this idea of human supremacy. but this seldom makes it over into visual media, of which trek and wars are familiar examples. i suppose this is a reflection of this idea still being there in a lot of popular culture too. something which REAL science fiction is not nearly as enslaved to.

I usually wear comfortable camo sweet pants at home as they're comfy and warm and yeah.
