Hey, you're taking that quote outta context there big papa, it was funny at the time. And those views you have of the hippie cultures handiling life and state of mind are just that... your views, they are what you assume the hippies are about, and thats what you get outta it. Those views aren't *really* shared by the majority of hippies, and the hippie movement as a whole has just digressed into a commerical enterprise... including this website.(which I dig) And theres nothing wrong with that. You probably meet a lotta people here who have the same state of mind that you do, and its human nature to seek out and talk to like minded people. I'm just saying don't put to much faith the 'movement', its the person that important, not some abstract hippie philosophy, and a lotta punks or goths or preppy kids or gangsta's whatever probably have a lot in common with you. Like you said you are what you are.
you think of it as external rebellion, stickinb it to the man, thats all good and fine... but i probably cant change the world. soooo ill change my world... i think a lot hippies would agree its a way of percieiving the world, a method of life, a state of mind, a philosophy on life...
haha, if I could really change my world, I'd have lazers in my eyes. Seriously I posted somethings on here yesterday and the menu was still here.. I miss it already.
Nah man, it's gone. I liked it though, it was cool. Is it just me or are the ads in the hippies thread in the middle and annoying?
Its not rocking, thats fo' damn sure. see what I mean about this being a commercial enterprise? I dont have a problem with that either, I just think its kinda funny. I gotta be up in like 5 hours... supposed to help my firend move, but I'm tired from a couple days of being out too late partying.
You know, man, I know exactly what you're saying, but I'm not sure I agree. The advertisements, IMO, were so Skip could get some of the funds he needed to build this society where like minded hippies can come and meet. But, in one way, you're correct. The advertisements now, I think are just comercialization. I mean, if he wanted it to be easy for us hippies to get some hippie merch, he already has it done. See that little bar that says 'Hip Universe'? LOL Yeah, just my opinion.
Yeah, not sure I understand either. Free thought is great, but how can we express our thoughts if our mouths and hands are bound by the AmeriKKKan flag?
Like I said, I dont have a problem with 'em. Skip provides a service and the ads are a way of generating revenue, i gave him ten bucks, and I appreciate what hes doing, but it still is commercialization. Feel however you want about it nathan, it you' right, I was just explaining how i felt about it. I'm probably too cynical anyway. ^-^
Not only do I agree with what you say nearly all the time, you made the greatest quote ever that night. I just had to put it in my sig.
if you dont like the ads, switch back to the old style of the forums. it aint that damn hard, and its nearly ad free
No, I totally agree with you on the fact that this community is too comercialized now, but, I think in the beginning, it was for a good reason. Now though, IMO, he should get rid of the ads. It's too much!
Im not underestimating anything, but when she takes a song like that THAT seriously, thats when age kicks in. Do you see any older people being seriously upset about a song like this? The answer is no.
Truthfully Chuck, there are a lot of people that get rilled up over juvinile thigns like this. Songs filled with hate like this, are not a positive influence on this generation, but, they can be quite funny once in the right mindset!
