i meant real only in the sense that he is right about where he came from. doesnt have shit to do with musical ability :) "real" can mean a lot of different things

"real" hiphop and lil wayne hiphop are not equatable is what im sayin...i realize he may be "real" about his roots. but his music isnt real in the least...

real hiphop outcasts lil wayne - and hes stuck in the mainstream :D

Keep getting racial about it... I'm not the one that invented the term hood nigga at all... I pulled it from another contrived song that he used for a mix tape...

maybe youre not understanding. i am full aware that he calls himself that all the time. however, based on the TCFs post, that second part wasnt quoted which included the rock album comment so it seemed like what he said had an undertone that "hood" black people cant produce that genre of music. thats what im discussing in particular - i could care less about the nigga thing

I think you're over analyzing the bits of the conversation and not getting the point.

Jimi Hendrix was the man and no rich kid to start by any means if memory serves, but I don't think he ever released a rap album.... he was real... Why is the "best rappa alive" putting out a rock album that NOBODY I know from the hood plans on buying?

I'd guess by your talk over the years and your current sig that you don't know much about the hood or being real...

It's ridiculous to rip on music for being "mainstream". The reason his last album was so successful was that he killed it on mixtapes and on remixes and cameos. Think about it. Mainstream means people want to hear it. So he must be doing something right....

ok one more time - im not making it racial

perhaps you could clear this up for me:

"When the fuck did a hood nigga put out a rock album?"

was that a lil wayne quote or was that you? if was you, did you mean that in the sense that it would unrepresentative of him to do so or make his "hood" music less authentic?

That's no shit... The man sold hundreds of thousands of copies of various mix tapes on top of being in EVERY single that was released for months and still topped the charts with a full album...

    Just sayin'...

i had a feeling how you felt about his music. i wasnt trying to go back and forth - just making sidenotes onto what you were saying:cheers2:

i dont hate music cause its mainstream, i hate mainstream music cause it is geared towards idiots, and therefor filled with idiot lyrics/sounds

typically as artists go mainstream, they lose what is REAL. thus most REAL hiphop is underground - or at least under the radar.

also - the majority of people you would meet in the world are fuckin idiots - i dont mind not listening to mediocre music that i dont miss anyways if it means separating myself from said dumbfucks.

oh gee maybe because he can and perhaps wants to try something. i think many black people need to be reintroduced to black artists putting out rock music. do i think lil wayne is the right person to do? hell no. but its a start. who am i to say fuck him he has no business putting out a rock album

im not even going to touch on the last remark because honestly, its ignorant and not even worth my time. you dont know shit about me man or where im from. i talk the way i talk because im educated, i have that current sig because its my sense of humor - as if i have to explain or prove myself to someone like you

For how HE portrays HIMSELF it is fake as fuck is what I'm saying.... It is purely about entertainment... there's nothing ghetto or representative about living in a mansion far removed from your roots talking about representing the hood then putting out a rock album they don't want to hear just to bring in a new demographic...

"When the fuck did a hood nigga put out a rock album?" That is me using his and other "ghetto rappers" definition of what a hood nigga is to say that no self proclaimed "hood nigga" would do a fuckin rock album...

"Man she say she want a hood nigga
I keep the purp by the pound
trunk stay bumpin' y'all know we run the town
    hood nigga
I keep a bad bitch around
thick bitch, long hair, yellow, white, red, brown
    hood nigga
any my chevy's sittin on 24's
    flats look like flapjakes, pancakes
    you ain't know
    hood nigga
I'm a play the game how I know
they can take me out the hood
but I'm a keep it hood folk

And I dont need a scale for the work
I can eyeball purp, I am not you jerk
hatin on me will make your situation worse
you dont wanna take a ride in that long black hearse
all eyes on me, shawty I'm a bomb first
I'm the truth and they say the truth hurts
Hustle mean hard work, hard work
if you scared go to church
man this rap shit is easy, every beat I get I murk

    Cause I'm a hood nigga

I keep the purp by the pound
the trunk stay bumpin, y'all know we run the town
    hood nigga
and I keep a bad bitch around
thick bitch, long hair, yellow, white, red, brown
    hood nigga
and my chevy sittin on 24's
flats look like flapjack, pancake you ain't know
    hood nigga
I'm a play the game how it go
they can take me out the hood
but I'm a keep it hood folk"

You're talking to the wrong guy about this cause I love this shit. It's all I listen to.. I study the shit like homework...

if he keeps his lyrics consistent and merely changes the sound, he should be set with the rock album. people are eating his stuff up now - i dont think there will be that big of a change. ive seen young men my age curious as fuck about rock music and theyre going to be the types of black people lil wayne is going to try to draw in with this - none of the old folks who are familiar with the old shit
