Why do people hate Bill Nye?

I was not aware he so disliked by the right. They say he not a scientist because he a mechanical engineering degree. And I guess because he has said that A. climate change is real B. There are more then two genders biologically.

The whole thing makes me laugh because if you say an engineer does not understand science you have no concept of what engineering is. It's not chemistry or biology more traditional "science" but I gurentee you to be a good engineer you need to understand science and how the world works.

Sad times when we live in when people will be so "triggered" over facts they would rather all them fake. Sorry the planet is heating up. Bill Nye has been a big role model for me. When I was a kid he pointed me in the direction of learning what he talked about. Now he is a sane voice in a world gone mad.

You have to keep in mind that gender is defined differently than sex

But even when speaking in terms of biological sex there are genetic abnormalities that make the line between male and female not so cut and dry for some people

 

Bill Nye is just another pandering simple minded zombie used to distract people from the problems that really need addressing in the world today.

 

Which is why biological gender is confusing.

I always thought it was sex that was biological (male or female) and gender that was the social construct (male, female, and any and everything in between).

What is he distracting from by talking about current events? Global warming for example is one of the biggest issues people living face today. He does not deny it unlike some people who want business as usual.

People hated Mr. Wizard when it was revealed he acted with Nancy Reagan. Oh the horror.

Nye is a dork, that's his biggest problem.

 

Global warming is certainly a clear & present danger we as a species are facing today but it is also one that our current psychological zeitgeist will not allow us to address. Nye like so very many others would rather pick at the sore than determine what has caused the sore or why it hasn't been treated already. This is a common epidemic that large swaths of humanity have failed to acknowledge let alone deal with ever since modern civilization came into being. Nye acts like this doesn't exist & is therefore just another hindrance to the spiritual & psychological evolution of mankind.

The voice of sanity doesn't try to reason with idiots,
The voice of sanity, doesn't not cast meaningless votes,
The voice of sanity does not insist science has all the answers,
When 20% of Americans still insist the sun revolves around the earth,
And, academics are always paid to tell them voting is their patriotic duty.​

 

I probably couldn't trust someone with a last name that was New Years Eve. Not sure why.. But since I don't do Nye celebrations... I wouldn't wanna be reminded of it all the time if I had to read his name.

The only people I know who don't like Bill Nye are Christian fundamentalists who are upset by his defense of evolution and an old earth.

I mainly like Bill Nye because his programs are funny. He came to my high school back in the 90's and was super serious. I'm pretty impressed that he came though.

 

No denying he's entertaining man. Small town schooling for me. Don't think any of 'em were high enough on the totem poll to get Bill Nye caliber entertainment. Don't remember ever having any real guest speakers in high school

 

I live near Seattle and someone at my school knew him back when he was working at Boeing.
