I expect you can express yourself in a reasonable manner, hhb. and it'd be more like an elbow in the ribs. annnnd, ya got some carnage between your teeth, there bro.... (sorry, couldn't resist..sorry)
Technicly speaking they are rather simple devices and something tells me you would be most capable of constructing one yourself provided you had a few basic tools. There are of course basic plans around the net on construction of them. http://www.atarn.org/frameindex.htm being one site, with alot of interesting history to go along with it. And of course http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=crossbow+plans&aq=f&oq= Keep in mind when they mention using things like a morticing chisel attachment on your drill press, they just mean drill a hole at either end of the slot with an auger bit and use a 1/2" chisel to cut away whats between the holes I just picked up a lil' benchtop bandsaw last week with the same plan in mind ($30 via' the flea market ) , looking for the right piece of wood for the stock, probably going to salvage an old truck leaf spring for the bow itself and thinking of testing Adams needle cordage for my bowstring. We'll see how it goes. Oddly enough it was an Old Womans mentioning how she was "Fixin' ta' go and grind up some deer hocks to put in the Chilli" which really put the taste in my mouth last month. And I have no problems with Vegans who do it for the sake of personal health issues, but folk's, a living thing is a living thing, this includes Carrots too, just because it cant curl up in your lap and Purr or bound majesticly over mountain peaks gives it no less standing as a living entity beyond that which is denied it by simple Human arrogance. Just because you choose to overlook the fact that science has proven that Plants do in fact feel pain or just because you cant hear their little mute screams as you crunch into the Bean Sprouts is no justification to look down upon those of us who love the taste of a well cooked Bison Burger
Yeah I can officially say this thread went right down the tubes Oh, but thats only my opinion, of course Im sure some believe this thread is a wealth of information and science Yeah that was kind of a disclaimer. Probably wont work
Ok, folks, please remember that by community consensus this is more or less a support forum... veggie venting, shall we say. PLEASE take the hunt talk to ...er...living on the earth? is that where survival skills go?
so its ok for yall to belittle our life choices but not ok for us to defend them?? i dont call that support i call that narrow minded and leaning towards bigoted.... seems to me if meat eaters cant defend there choice then the thread should be closed.
But the suppoosed arguments for defense had no grounding. "Theres no reason not to" and "but you kill mice in the field" can both be proven not to be valid. "It tastes good" was probably the most valid response we had. At least that could be argued to be true Above me as I write, I can see the sentcence "This forum is for veggies, vegans and those interested in learning about the vegetarian lifestyle"...The majority of non-veg responses didnt seem like they were interested at all, theyd rather put forward closed-statement answers with no validity, and we dont want every thread to become a pointless veg-meateater faceoff I also think what drumminmama was objecting to was all the hunting and how to construct traps talk which definitely does NOT belong here (correct me if Im wrong)
Well,,,, sorry I'm kinda new here, didnt get that the question was rhetorical. It's generally my practice to only ask a question when I want an answer, but sincere appologies for going off topic slightly.
the bottom line is the question was,"why do people eat animal flesh?" that question can only be answered truthfully and without bias by those who eat meat. our answers shouldnt be debated, their shouldnt be vegetarians replying to the question either. unless of course the entire motive of the thread was to have a buncha non meat eaters give their biased opinions on why we eat meat simply so they can have a moment of superiority.or so that a buncha vegetarians can attack us for our choices.either of those options are wrong IMO. it doesnt matter if you think they are not valid reasons, they are our reasons. you dont have to like it and we shouldnt have to defend it.
Firslty let me say I am human...I know other humans, who eat meat. I talk to them. They tell me things. I myself once ate meat. Im sure most veggies did. What needless arrogance to say we should not be replying, in our own forum too! It doesnt matter if your reasons are valid? Let me point out that what I meant was not a matter of opinion...I meant facts. "Theres no reason not to" can be argued with facts, therefore my point stands, theyre arguably not valid But seeing as I dont eat meat anymore Id better be quiet on the matter eh! Have a mindless slanging match in the veggie forum without any factual material to back anything you claim up, if thats what you so wish
Indeed! Not all meatproducts are full with that stuff. Almost every big city has a store where you can get normal and natural processed meat nowadays (and like MaryJBlaze and Hillbilllyhippie said is of course even more natural: some peeps still get their meat from their own source). Since my main problem with meat is the massive industry and how they treat animals and how they process the meat these are very great options to have To answer the original question: because it is natural to me, and of course because it's mad tasty. :drool5:
our opinions are based in our own interpretations of the "facts",.. if someone feels theres no reason not to,,then that is there reason why. just because YOU feel there are reasons not to eat meat does not mean the person who made the statement feels those reasons are reason enough for them personally not to.. it seems to me that you are proving what i feel was the motive behind this thread to be true.. its not simply a inquiry as to why we eat meat, its a place to belittle us for our choice to eat meat.. you cant just read peoples responses and take it for what its worth you feel the need to be critical of there response and tell them why you feel its not a good enough reason.. well no one asked you to do that did they? no the only question asked was "why do people eat animal flesh". i didnt see "and why do you feel there reasons are wrong" added on to that..
I eat animal flesh because it's illegal to eat vegetarians, I keep my fingers crossed that one day those laws will be changed....
contradiction many of the animals you eat ARE vegetarian/herbivores...it's not illegal to eat vegetarians, it's just illegal to eat humans... that latter sentence speaks volumes...you're making a fool of yourself Mary, in this forum at least...why the hate?
