God works well for me. Quite well might I add. I have been very blessed and I am very grateful. Many people have a faulty perception of God. They assume that he is very shallow and condemning. That is not case. There cannot be an
action without a consequence. There is no good without evil. God is quite forgiving but it is mankind who doesn't want to be forgiven. If God's mind was already made up, then no one would have a chance at salvation.

So because I choose not to follow god, my life has been crappy? that's ridiculous.

Why do I have to be with him or against him? Why can't I just not choose to follow him.

Oh yeah and the bible says sex is a sin, so don't put so much validity into it; it's a good work of fiction created by the churches to keep us in line, simple as that.

What faulty perception? I'm religious, but for a while I sought my religious enlightenment elsewhere through buddhism, or paganism. So because I chose not to follow your god, it makes me evil?

That's ridiculous. Semantics, that's what it is. I can spend all day quoting movies and comic books with more profound lines about god, but I don't want to. Let people live how they live.

In my eyes, god doesn't condemn those who choose not to follow him, it's humans who condemn other humans.

The reason why people deny God is because they do not want to be under the authority of God. They love their sinful lives. And most people never look for the truth. Instead most close their ears and refuse to listen but will go to great heaights to try to prove the Bible wrong. All because if they found that the Bible was true that means they have to change their ways-change for the good-something that most people are not willing to do.

Also, most people on this forum don't have the slightest clue about the Bible yet they act like they do. They try to fool others with big words and come up with their own theories on the Bible in attempt to get away from the God's regulations. Most have never heard any of the proofs of the Bible and if they did they would close their eyes and deny the truth. It almost becomes a religion-denialism. The Christian band Jars of Clay describes it best:

    "You've seen the truth,
    But your still crying wolf,
    You'll never believe."

I made a statement about my life. I did not say anything about anyone elses.

The Bible explains the difference between being with him or against him. It doesn't say sex is a sin. It says sexual immorality is a sin. If sex was a sin, God wouldn't have given us the ability to create human life.

I never said anything in that statement about anyone being evil

I never said that you weren't entitled to your own opinion. I have said many times that not everyone will believe and that is their choice.

I didn't say God was condemning. I said people assume he is.

Sounds to me like you're talking about me, so if you are, address it to me, please, and I might have a response to your utterly inane cliche comment.

That is a fare statment when it is said sincerely.

Let me first begin by saying "yes, I misspelled OPPOSE ealier." Don't ask me how I did that. Hah.

Now to comment on this quote: The number one reason why people oppose God is because of hell. They don't understand who God really is and why hell is really there. They cannot think past human logic and understand in spiritual terms. God cannot be explained with human logic though. If we are to understand something spiritual, we have to seek spiritual wisdom(not worldly wisdom).
First of all, Christians are the #1 problem for representing God in the wrong way. I will openly admit that. Many people have a false idea of who God is and therefore they don't understand how a God(the one being represented by most Christians) would send a person to hell.
The God being described to people today is a god of love, peace, joy, understanding, and is so flexible and soft. Well in all reality, that really is not the case. If we are to understand God we need to embrase his WHOLE character. Not just the parts that are easiler to embrase than others.
The God that is really our Creator is more like this... He is loving but he is also just. He desires that all people turn back to him, but he must punish wrong-doing. He is forgiving, but also wrathful. He is holy. In him there is nothing false. He hates wickedness. Now let me open your eyes to see our God as a good and perfect God. If you were to elect a judge to rule in our court system, you would pick the judge that did his job right. You would pick a judge that would serve the law. Someone that would punish the guilty and stand up for the innocent. You would want the murderers delt with justly and the victims see their justice met. You would not want a wimpy judge that let everyone off the hook. You would not want the judge to let every psycho out on the streets. And if you will notice the people going into and leaving his courtroom... The people who are being sentenced are the ones who hate him(because they are guilty) but the ones who are innocent and have been let go by the judge are the ones who love him.
That is the same with our God. He MUST not let a guilty person go free of charge. If he did, he would not be perfect. He would be a whimp. There would be no more reason for people to fear, respect, or honor a whimp. An imperfect whimp.
Now the question may arrise... "well everyone makes mistakes and so wouldn't everyone go to hell?" Yes. Every person must pay for what they have done. They must go to hell for it. Everyone has failed to live up to the standard that God has chosen. God is too perfect for us to come before him in imperfection. BUT!!!! That is where Jesus came into the picture 2000 years before us. He bridged the gap for us. We were not able to come before God because of our sinfulness. But Jesus died and took the punishment that we were supposed to receive. He went to hell and rose again on the third day. He is risen. He has conquered death. So all who put their faith in Him recieve the GIFT(cannot be earned by goodness) of eternal life in heaven.
Let me go back to the courtroom with the judge:
The Father is the judge. He sits on his throne and when we die we come before him. What kind of case would it be without a defendant and an accuser? So Satan in the accuser. When you stand before God, Satan will bring up every wrong think you have ever done, said, and thought. And believe me, he will not spare you. He will pour everything out. And you will stand there so guilty. And God will look upon those things and have to make a judgement based on them. BUT... for all the people who chose to believe on Christ... in comes their defendant. He is only there to help those who accepted his free services to help them in this case before God. All the people who thought they could defend themselves with their own goodness on this Day, he refuses to help. So in comes Jesus... He stands before his Father and says,"Father, Satan in lying again. This person is not guilty of those things. Do you not remember that I did them. I was punished for it too. So you see Father, because you are a just Judge, you cannot punish this person for this thing which has already been paid for. Check your records and you will see." Jesus had never lost a case before... but God checks his records just in case. Sure enough, the debt of sin was canceled and "innocence" was the final word declared by the Father.

I don't know how to stress this more.... Jesus can either be accepted as our mediator or rejected. And truth is not only truth when it is believed. Truth is truth no matter who believes it. Opinion can be changed easily. But truth is a law that will never cease to exist. It is what it is wether it is easy to understand, hard to understand, or despised, or embrased, or whatever.

The Bible is not true to me because I believe it. I only believe it because it has prooved to be true.

lol, don't worry about it... I've misspelled 'the' on here a couple times.

I don't really want to start a theological debate here. Your never really going to talk someone out of their beliefs, even if they worship 'Trix The Rabbit', so I'm not going to address that ''the bible has been proven to be true thing'' if you believe it, good for you. Faith goes much further then evidence.

I'm a Buddhist, and I don't believe in god, or an afterlife (including reincarnation). Its possible I'm wrong, but all I have to believe in is myself.

Hah, I agree with you though... I wouldn't want a wimpy god either. Take care rasa4jc.

Ok I'm not trying to be the Devil's Advocate here but I just can't handle major spelling errors:
    fair-not fare
    embrace-not embrase
    arise-not arrise

    Ok I'm done :D

Lots of bad and good things happen to most people, is it god all the time, or god when the things are good and Satan when they aren't?

I've witnessed miracles, been touched by the spirit, spoken in tongues, seen healing, etc. I pray and my prayers are answered. I know God is real. Even though faith may not rely on material evidence or logical proof, God doesn't just sit back and tell us to believe in him without showing us that he cares. Things happen when people put complete faith and trust in God. That is why they know he is real. Sometimes people come to God with the wrong expectations. They always want to recieve and never give. Then when things don't go the way they planned, they claim that he does not exsist.

I have experianced 16 years on this plane of existance, and have had many joyous moments, and many heartbreaking moments. I do not attribute either to "god". I don't blame "god" for the bad stuff any more than I thank "him" for the good stuff. I understand and accept that all this is temporary, yet I cherish it anyway, in a way, I beleive that athiests cherish life more than religious persons, because we know that this is all we have.

Bit of a non-sequitor, but I saw this program about "alien abductions" and in one segment, this guy volunteered in a scientific study, in which his brain was hooked up to electrodes, and when certain parts of the brain were stimulated, he experianced gray beings kidnapping him and being levitated into a bright light, similar to what alien abductees have experianced. I'm not saying that alien abductions aren't real, but I'm saying that the experiance of one, regardless of what actually happens. can be triggered by stimulating parts of the brain.

The brain is the least understood organ in the body, we only have a miniscule grasp on what our brains can do. It's possible that aliens, demons, god, can all be explained by different chemical reactions in our brains. The fact is that we don't know, and possibly never will.

Do you know about Godel's Theory? It basically says that one cannot totally know about something, until he is completely removed from that thing. Take the universe, we cannot know everything about the universe, until we are removed from the universe, which is about as close to impossible as you can get. A second part of Godel's Theory says that in the act of observing something, we irrecovably change that thing. So when we apply it to the universe, as we observe the universe, the act of observation changes the universe.

So what is to say what is real? I consider real what I have experianced, and not much else. Religion, spirituality, all this is an experiance, It cannot be taught, or forced upon someone, but it must come from inside, and change.

I agree. I have seen many happy dogs following their human masters as well as many happy human sheep who have decided to idolize their human intellectual superiors instead of following God.

So saying that you have chosen to walk a path that your creator has not layed out for you is not opposing your creator in a logical sense? Hmm....

Bible says to avoid sexual sin (in New Testament) not that sex is a sin. I see sin as doubt of God (worrying about something). If God says not to engage in sexual sin (sexual doubt) don't you consider that to be good advice? Sex is a lot more enjoyable when you are confident.

If you think my God is a different entity then your god you do not know God, so sure, you are evil. Whatever...

Thanks. I live by correcting your mistaken ideas.

Something is in your eyes all right :p.
