Why do men's clothes come up so small these days.

Whenever I buy new clothes,I find that I have to buy XXL to even get into the items,be it jeans, shirts or sweaters, and even then there is very little room to manoeuvre. And I'm not even that big.Does anyone else experience this fashion obsession with tight-fit clothing,or is it just me?

    Its just you

It may piss you off and surprise you, but I still buy the same size I did when I was 12, had a big growth spurt very early and have been 38 long ever since

I find the opposite with women clothing. I still have the size 3-4 pants and skirts I got back in high school, and they fit, but if I get new pants in the same size they fall right off my hips, despite the "skinny jeans" trend. Without a change in my measurements, I have dropped to a 1-2, sometimes even zero.

Perhaps I need to start getting boy pants.

I only wear jeans and black shirts with unreadable band names.
Men's fashion is all metrosexual these days. Apparently is socially adept to dress like you're queer.

    Yes I agree it's a conspiracy.I don't and can't aspire to sexy,I'm more of a Victorian romantic.

If your location is correct, and you were buying in the states/Europe, welcome to sizing in Asia.

I don't think the Chinese realize just how big we are! Girlfriend gave me a beautiful shirt with thick lining--just perfect for Oregon fall and winter. Main body sort of fit==passable , but the damn sleeves were way up on my wrists. Had to give it to my grandson. xx-large--no way.

I think much of it does have to do with "Asian" sizing, some is not so much that it's all smaller, it varies considerably. Cuts are not being made according to the bias of the cloth (stretch direction) This causes clothes to shrink differently from one piece to the other. This is being done to get the maximum number of pieces out of a bolt of cloth without regard to the quality of the finished piece.

Go through a rack of whatever your size and compare like to like... very few will even be close to each other and then after first washing they will be even much more different one to the other. I tend to buy the same things in multiple when I can afford new... 3 "identical" shirts for instance. Within a few weeks one won't fit at all, one will be fine and the third too short or too tight.

This why I end up getting used thrift store clothes... They have already been through the wash several times and are now set in their sizing. Doesn't matter what the tag says, it fits or it doesn't. Used is cheaper too.

I should clarify. My people are either small small and stocky or bean poles. There are a lot of us in Jerusalem.

(What? You wanted 20 percent off?)
