    Well if you're going to start posting Aerosmith lyrics...

    ..I can't compete with that kind of logic.

    Sure you can: just post some lyrics from the doors.

    This is the end my only friend the end. Father yes son I'm going to kill you. I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer. Show me the way to the next whisky bar. I don't know why. LA Woman. You're my woman. That sort of thing?

    No, obviously you have to regard the context a little. Otherwise you are making just as much (or less) sense as the one who posted aerosmith lyrics.

    I thought it was real easy, but you seemed to pick exactly the lines that do not outwit Wu Li here. Which is also quite an accomplishment :-D

    Easily Amused
    What is the difference between acceptance and denial?
    What is the difference between beautiful and hideous?
    What is the difference between infinity and the void?
    The usual clowns are festive as if attending a party,
    Or frolicking about in the park upon a spring day,
    While, my mind still wanders in ignorant bliss,
    A newborn babe, yet to learn how to smile,
    Alone without any real aim or purpose.
    The zombies, have enough to spare,
    Whereas, I have nothing at all,
    And my heart remains foolish,
    Muddy waters always cloudy.
    Whereas I am dim and confused,
    Others, are more often self-assured;
    While I remain completely in the dark.
    Aimless as a wave just drifting out to sea,
    Bereft the slightest attachment, to anything,
    Most people are busy getting necessary crap done,
    Whereas I am often weird and impractical.
    I don't share everybody else's concerns,

    Being so easily amused by nature.

    i thought "the aerosmith lyrics" (not knowing or realizing that they were), almost completely and singularly appropriate and addressing the topic.

    deny nothing, accept nothing, reserve the right to recognize the unknown-ness of the unknown.
    we are used to things beginning and ending, but why should what we don't know, be assumed to conform to what we do?
    why should the existence of existence have to have beginnings or endings at all?
    and why assume, that if a thing lacks beginning or ending, that it would have to be a steady and unchanging state?
    why can't it have lumps in it? pinching down to almost endings, and expanding outward to seemingly endless and diverse activity.

    Its the other way around, Aerosmith adapted classic literary prose to their lyrics. Its common in music and, for example, Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" refers to common Christian literary prose talking about dancing, singing, and laughing in front of the gates of hell. In fact, the "Aerosmith" poem is extrapolated from a popular poem found in the Tao Te Ching that, in turn, actually predates the text:

    Thirty spokes meet at a nave;
    Because of the hole we may use the wheel.
    Clay is moulded into a vessel;
    Because of the hollow we may use the cup.
    Walls are built around a hearth;
    Because of the doors we may use the house.
    Thus tools come from what exists,
    But use from what does not.
    (Peter Merel GNL interpolation)
    Taoists and roughly half the world believe everything that exists and does not exist emerges from what is commonly called, "The Mother of All" or the "Great Void". What exists defines what does not exist and vice versa with the question not being so much where does anything come from, as how do something and nothing transform into one another.

    My Doors lyrics win then, since they aren't copied from someone else's work.

    Everybody copies everybody else or we'd all be speaking our own private languages. However, I agree to a great extent. The work I do is analogous to using basic algebra to just shuffle around different metaphors until you get them right, while one person I know is a published poet whose work is more like calculus. Compared to him I'm just a hack playing with words and I had to reassure him when he was shocked to hear I could write as many as six poems in a single day. Ironically, I've had women beg me to write more sexy poems and have had to tell them its all mathematical and all I do is crunch the numbers. Sometimes I don't even know what a particular poem is actually supposed to be about until working on it for years.

    Men are like dogs, always begging for food, while women enjoy teasing them, "Here boy, here boy..... Go away, go away!"

    That's why internet porn and plastic surgery are both booming businesses.
