Why do hippies have long hair?

I have long hair because I like it that way. I also don't like the way short hair looks on me.

 

well i have short dreaded hair....just cuz i dont have to brush it......therefore....hippies have long hair cuz they r lazy.....

 

It has nothing to do about conformity for me, merely what social group i wish to conform with

i have short hair, the longest part goes to the bottom of my neck. my boyfriend's hair is longer than mine . it's curly, but if you stretch it out it goes almost to his armpit. it's so pretty. i don't think short hair ever looks good on guys. makes you look like you're in the army or work in an office. and if your hair is long, you can do all sorts of creative things with it. cut it in interesting ways, dye it, dread it, braid it, put beads in it, wear it differently... it's less work and more fun.

 

Most people associate long dreadlocks and shaggy hair on a person as someone that lacks in the personal hygiene department by choice. When people ask "Why do hippies have long hair?", they are normally being facetious and asking along the lines of "Why do hippies want to be seen as grungy and dirty?"

 

well, after long thougt, ive decided as almost a way to rebel you see, almost like barbarianism, a way to show we do what we want

 

A better question would be: Why do square people have short hair?

I think at first it was just a natural way of bieng, on tour for a while, and these were the kids of military parents after ww2
so they rebelled...
yeah I think that was in the first page, but anyway,
it is sorta silly that hir is a defining quality of what social circles you follow, or the type of person you are...but none the less we live in a world of definitions...

I was always bald when I grew into the scean,
I found it hillarious, the longer my hair got or now the dreadier, the more I was initially accepted among hip folk.
but thats the same with any jaundra, a thug is more accepted by his styles, a goth the same, a cowboy the same as well,
humanity for whatever reason needs defining qualities to fit in or to fade out..whatever way you want to look at it.

so if its a matter of growing out my hair....which I personally enjoy and would do so for the shits of it, to accomplish by some manner a defining principle than hey go be a superstar!!!

as for why do squares have short hair?
easy enough, actually the first part of my post explained that as well, they dop so to fit in, to be overlooked and counted as members active of society,
to get less hassel from cops or border guards,
to be looked upon as succsessfull....man its just the other side of the same damn coin....

I just wished there was no coin and we all could be hairy or hairless, and never have to worry about you me, difference, or the same....losing the broders bieng one.

I met a guy with hair longer than mine and it was so cool, I love it when guys grow their hair long, I guess it's just a matter of opinion of what feels comfortable
