Gotta be on the lookout though. It's getting dangerous these days with all those violent drive by singings happening in the inner city.

They'd descend on an unsuspecting town and hang around on street corners belting out concertos, arias, and show tunes until the police were summoned to disperse them. James Dean starred in a movie romanticizing them- Rebel Without a Tune but all pretense of innocence was forever lost when an outlaw choir gang invaded a sleepy California town in July of 1947, forcing its residents to participate in a full production musical. Full page stories were plastered over the papers nationwide with photographs showing lurid displays of singing, dancing and there's rumored to have been a number of incidences of forced choreography and hapless townspeople being held down and forced to sing,"tra-la-la" over and over again until they lost their voices

Understandably, the country was outraged and the incident inspired many states to enact legislation severely restricting choir activities- setting a maximum number of people who could gather for the purpose of singing. A few went so far as to outlaw harmonized singing entirely. The era has gradually faded into lore but you can still find members of Hell's Carolers today- clad in their unmistakable leather robes adorned with the image of an eagle with a hymnal in its claws. The image can still strike fear with some folks old enough to remember. This outlaw gang is making a comeback.

No- I think Frank wrote his own stuff. Flattering comparison though.
