I chose to go veggie for religious reasons. It is my sacrifice to my faith.

I want to go vegetarian again. I went pescaterian (fish eating) to get perseptive on the reasons for my initial vegetarianism, apart from what others tell you. I finally figured it out (fishing kills coral reefs, mercury is a pollution issue for me but whatever) but now I'm literally addicted to sushi, and they just don't make good veggie sushi around here.

I will go back. but for now when people ask me why it's okay to eat fish and not animals I either say (if we're close) I'm basically a hypocrite (everyone is if you don't follow your beliefs, absolutely) or if they're not close I say fish dont raise their young, which I don't know of a species that does.

but I'm not vegetarian at the momment, so I guess I don't count. but I will go back

the reasons not to eat land animals are too long for me to write. look that up. there's a million and one.

A vegan holistic healer friend of mine once said that to me, I vaguely remember. I would like more info on it.

well i became a vegetarian a few months ago after a failed attempt at veganism, going right from omnivore to vegan wasnt a good idea. it lasted about a day, lol. anyway, i made the switch for a very superficial reason, weight loss. so far it hasnt worked, and i still crave kfc. but i figure why give up when i've quit meat for so long? anyway, i still really want to lose about 15 lbs and i was just wondering if anyone has lost weight after going vegan, and roughly how much? i also want to feel healthier overall, i have a pretty terrible diet but it can be hard not too when you have to buy food on a budget. any suggestions?

well... i was vegetarian for a while then i became really ill...
i was extremly low on iron and a few more things.
my doctor reccomended i eat meat until i finished developing. i eat only chicken and fish now but as soon as i feel well again im going to stop.
i dont really know why... i just feel really bad eating meat.. knowing that it was once a happy living creature.
    peace

Because I have absolutely no right to believe I am supieior to a animal. Also meat is extremely unhealthy and unnessacary we live in a world were meatless food is easily avaliable so if you willingly consume meat you have killed not for nessicity but for you appetite and thats selfish and inhumane

I have eaten meat probably before I started talking and I will keep eating meat, because it can be SOOOO DELICIOUS and fulfilling! I am a great meat lover and I believe that eating meat is as natural thing as having sex. Sometimes hunting for animals and killing them adds an even better taste to the meat. But I DON'T like torturing animals! My favourite meat is pork, than chicken. I am NOT fat at all and I have never been. I am athletic, because I do sports a lot. No other type of food can be chewed so slowly and can leave such a nice long lasting taste as a well baked STEAK. Meat is healthy, meat is delicious, meat is the best food there is!

Vegetarians are like monks who deprive themselves of sex so that god can be happy. Only the vegetarian thing is much more ridiculous, because the assumption is that animals suffer so much during their short brainless lives and therefore god is sad, so let's not eat them. Vegetarians are usually spoilt people, mostly females (read about isoflavon and estrogen), who doesn't have a clue about the real world and try to create their own utopic and "peaceful" reality. Or just try to make themselves feel revolutionary or better, like people who get over a thousand piercings and tattoos. Therefore they are all some sort of deluded psychopaths, whose proudness for being vegetarian derives from that they save animal lives and that they are superior (morally, spiritually or whatever) to all the people who kill animals. BUT WAIT if all the people didn't eat meat they wouldn't breed animals. Therefore animals that would have lived to be eaten would have never existed! Than what do vegeterians save? Conclusion is that vegetarians are nothing more than people with issues, expressing their feelings and confusion! To those who compared animals to humans and said that they are equal.. hahaha ..I really don't know what to say, maybe too high levels of estrogen LOL

Thats very stereotypical. Like me saying all people that eat meat are selfish egotistical people that dont care about other creatures in this world and feel they are the only important race on the world.
    But thats not true.

    Neither is that
I dont have any issues with expressing myself or with my feelings. In fact I'd say im better than many meat eaters i know.

If a child is born and lives their life as a slave from being sold at birth,is killed at the age of 16 and works and sleeps in terrible conditions then should we promote it? Because if we didnt there would be no point in that child working there and so no one would have bought the child and so the mother probably wouldve had an abortion etc well an abortion means that child never got to live so we should all promote this behaviour so this child gets to have a life.
honestly to this Im not gunna bother answering.

I dont know how you managed to believe this but you sound pretty angry at vegetarians and if its cos someone acted 'superior' to you because you eat meat that doesnt mean everyones like that.

If a group of people were rasied to be killed then would that be Ok? What if they're dumb?? That way we can say that we're better than them, cleverer than them, more important and we'd help the comunity more. Is that ok? What if i said that human meat tastes really good, it fufills me and its okay because they weren't tortured. Is that okay? If you can use that on animals then you should be able to use it on humans.

If we ate like Lions or tigers etc but we dont. They NEED it to survive. Kill or be Killed. Most people will not be killed if they dont. Its pointless. Its no longer natural. Look at the ingredients and see if its natural.

Im vegetarian originally because my parents were and my religon (Hinduism) but otherwise its cos i think its inhumane. I think its okay for survival but thats not the case. I also think its pointless - I have a friend who eats pork scratchings simply because she loves the salt and her father doesn't let her eat salt on its own.

    don't feed the troll!

I originally became vegetarian because I felt like a glutton eating meat all the time. It was too easy not to think about it. And I love animals, and I was beginning to feel my diet was impeding my harmony and communication with the creatures around me. :) As the years have gone by, I've gotten more into the health, environmental, and AR reasons behind vegetarianism. At this point, the entire planet and my own relationship with and place in it stands as my reason. This is just what's right, and I know it. The amazing thing is that over the last few months several people around me have become inspired, without me even getting a little preachy, to follow the same path. 8 months ago I went vegan and those people closest to me really saw the change I underwent, physically and spiritually, saw how much happier I've become, and aspired to it... not to sound full of myself or anything,,, but I think that's pretty cool!

I had an interesting conversation the other day. Someone I know was saying, while he fully respects and appreciates my choice, that he feels it should be entirely a personal choice and parents shouldn't force vegetarianism on children. Now, I agree that it is a personal choice. And if a parent goes veg after a child has been eating meat for their whole life, knowing what a hamburger is etc. I'd actually be inclined to agree. But I think it's ridiculous to feed a child animal products from the start, if you are educated enough in human nutrition to feed them a balanced diet otherwise, just so they'll have to come to this and struggle with this choice to GIVE IT UP later on in life. At that point, aren't we able to say - it's a personal choice, so as a child gets older and comes to understand the facts and the industry, they can make their own choice TO eat animal products later, instead of the other way around.

Ack, I don't know if any of that just made sense. Maybe that carpet cleaner I just used got into my brain!
