You shall soon see why this is political. US residents, have you ever noticed? The dime is the only US coin they never bothered to ever redesign? Even briefly? They redesigned the penny. Actually, historically twice (wheat stalk, Lincoln memorial, shield). They redesigned the Nickel, numerous times. Do I even have to get into the quarter? The half dollar, though rare in circulation, was briefly redesigned for the Bicentennial. There have been numerous incarnations of the dollar coin. But never the dime. Why? And here's the political angle: does the fact that the dime has liberal icon Franklin Delano Roosevelt on it (yes, that's who's on it ) have anything to do with it? Yeah, FDR is one of my heroes. Sorry, but he is. He got us thru WW2 and the Great Depression, you know. And as a personal bias, actually I am glad that they didn't and don't. But still. What gives?
Everyone breathed such a sigh of relief to finally be rid of the Mercury emblem they couldn’t face another revision of the dime?
Didn't they have dimes before FDR? Who was on them? Lady Liberty, wasn't it? Surely, this should be high on the agenda of the Retrumplicans if and when they take power! Trump might end up being on there, and on Mount Rushmore, too!
The Mercury Dime has a fascine on the back. The re-design eliminated the facist symbol. Fasces - Wikipedia
