i, for one, don't wanna see any naked women, i'd have to walk around with my hands all over my eyes all the time.

you also forget that our public space is getting more and more crowded, you can barely walk on the street and not brush up against another person. and that's bad enough with clothes on, imagine what it'd be like without them.

i value the beauty of human body (well, only male body, since i'm gay) but i'm glad we're wearing clothes. it's special to see the person you're attracted to naked for the first time. i like that moment, and i cherish it. and i'd like to keep it that way. if we all went naked all the time it would lose its meaning.

Are we allowed to be naked on our own property? Would one be arrested if they say gardened or sun bathed naked in their yard?

it would probably depend on your yard

You are perfectly right! Most of indigenous tribes that practice (almost) complete nudity have a quite decent sexual behaviour. Since thousands of years it works. Is "white man" to stupid for it? I do not think so.
Naked women in public are respected, so are naked men.
Children do not pay atention, they go also naked.
Generally a small ornament is sufficient, to make you not to feel naked nor obscene.
Try it yourself: use a coloured string or lace around your hip. You"ll stop to think on sex, seing others naked or not, although you continue completly naked. So does body painting. That's the reason why, in indigenous tribes.

We make our laws. That's the essence of democracy. Let's change them.
    Beginning might be somehow megalomaniac.
But crazy movements, megalomaniacs in the beginning, sometimes have transformed into mass movements, which finally succeded in making the difference.

    Greetings: Toivo

One must think of Nudism as a religion to see why it is illegal in public. It is illegal for a similar reason of seperation of church and state. If you choose to go nude in public you are forcing others to see nudism and thus forcing them to be a part of it in some slight way. Everyone is free to do as they please, but when a majority of society does not see it as normal, you have to create buildings and locations where you may practise your "religion". Just as religious people go to church, nudists go to beaches and other places to express themself. even gays and transexuals have thier own place to express themself. I will admit i dont believe there are enough places for people to express their nudity, but that doesnt give them the right to express it everywhere. That is what i believe to be the reason nudism is illegal in a lot of public places.

    Dear knowledge4knowledge:

If you were right: I can go dressed like a jew, like a muslim or with catholic ornaments in public, but not naked. Were's the logic of your argumentation?

We have made the body a crime. If there were never clothes, no one would be saying "I don't want to see some people naked" because it would be the norm.
It's sad, really. Whats sadder is how men can be shirtless and women can't, that really fucking irks me!

because in case of nudism your choice of clothing (or lack or it) is the 'religion'. and it is forcing it onto other people, by making them see it. for religion, their clothing is just a custom, a symbol of their religious practices. it is not it per se.

i wouldn't call nudism a religion but i do see the analogy in terms of forcing it onto other people, that knowledge4knowledge talked about.

Thank you Meridianwest. That is exactly what i was trying to say. Im not saying nudism is a religion, Im just using religion as an analogy to show why the government restricts it.

I understood and I think it's quite a good analogy. There always needs to be a balance between people who want to practise nudism and people who are offended by nudity, just like there is between church and state.

The best way to achieve positive steps towards making nudism universally acceptable is to convince people not to be offended, and you aren't always going to be able to do that by forcing them into direct confrontation with the thing that offends them, because they are just going to close their minds to your way of doing things.

That said, sometimes social change requires trailblazers who dare to confront society with the thing society wants to change. I'm not sure if someone like Steve Gough is a help or a hindrance to the image of nudism but I do admire him and others like him for having the nerve to say to people "this is a naked person, this is natural, why are you offended by this?"

I would say one other thing though - it isn't nudism which is illegal, at least, not in my country. In my country, the law on public nudity is complicated, but where public nudity is prohibited, it is the being naked which is illegal, not being a nudist.

Nudism is, of course, affected by nudity laws. But so are all other reasons for being naked in public. The law doesn't seperate the nudist, who is nude because their way of life is to believe it is better to not where clothes, from anyone else who is naked for any other reason. Maybe it should? But for now, the law bans nudity, not nudism.

I dont know of anywhere that nudism is illegal either. I ment being naked in public as being illegal, never nudism. I have no excuse why i made that mistake and now feel stupid.

Thanks for pointing that out xangelwingsx.

I do not force anybody to anything. People may close their eyes or lokk to somthing they like more.

Contrary to our ears: you cannot close your ears neither stop to listen to something you hate, changing the direction of your head, which perfectly works with your eyeseight.
But you may play music the stile of whatever you want (I am not against, I am just arguing). So you really force the others, who might not like to listen.
But to do so in public this is not illegal, contrary to nudity.

What a fuck of hypocricy !!! Allover the world, not only in the USA or the UK!

    Yours truly, my friends: Toivo
