i am going through the same thing at the moment, i have suffered from chronic laryngitis and it has scared me to a point of no return with regard to cigarettes. healthy people can die at any time, but they die of uncontrollable factors - unhealthy people carry both this risk and the atypical illness accredited to their lifestyles.
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" — Hunter S. Thompson
Unhealthy food from unhealthy habits in a unhealthy society. Some people are born big but that excuse doesn't hold much anymore. Look at someone who is big and see what they consume and how often they exercise. Pretty simple really.
He was obviously talking about 350 pound people who never got a date and died in their mid thirties. What a ride...
I'm a pudge. I live amongst skinny people that consume 3X or more the calories I do and sit constantly. I didn't help me a bit to ask, "why am I fat??" I doesn't matter why I can stay plump on 1000 Cal/day + 35hrs of bustling about serving food for my job... I had to stop caring why and just WORK HARDER. I can't compare my lifestyle to that of someone that's just genetically superior, I just have to do more. I told my boyfriend that I am going to be managing my diet seperately from his so he should not expect me to want to eat what he wants. I have reverted to my preferred diet, an easy vegetarian diet that includes fresh produce at every meal. My calorie count won't change much, I'll still be around 300/meal. I'm just cutting out the processed junk out of my meals. I don't like soda pop or ice cream, but I'm not making strict rules just yet. I've started intentionally working out and I've set my baseline such that my minimum daily workout includes a sum of at least 600 Cal burned according to the machines. The workout is nothing compared to a busy double shift at the restaurant but I hope it makes a dent in my fatass.
Does it matter if that is what they want.Let them do it.Are you a doctor? i doubt that one sorry. Their health is for them and their doctor to work on.Not some Twats on a forum bitching about it.If you dont like it then do something to help them.Talk with them listen to them, fuck you could even try to motivate them but putting down people for the way they look is headed down a dark lonely road my friend...
My aunt once said that some people live to eat and others eat to live. Some overeat and that can make them fat but that doesn't necessarily mean they have no self control; some people are just genetically inclined to always be hungry. In the same way, some people (like me) are never hungry and have to force themselves and remember to eat because there is no appetite. They're sides of the same coin, just different consequences. Some people eat so little yet get fat, it's genetics. Some are thin as a rail and eat nothing but fast food. There are others though that simply overeat, maybe because they're bored, using it a vice or etc. Also, I wouldn't put it past the food industry for pushing certain fatty foods on the public and putting high fructose corn syrup in basically everything nowadays so it's hard to avoid.
Americans in general don't have an attention span of a gnat, always drive, sit on their fats asses and eat basic starch & calories ... people from othr countries walk, use parks and eat light like we all should - Americans are fat
Colorado is one of the healthiest states in the nation. Most hike and ride their bike all over. It really depends on the state.
Well Rusty... I think it's more anti choices that Americans in particular tend to make... then not own when medical fallout rears its ugly head. people should be free to make informed choices on their own without things like the misinformative TV spots about high fructose corn syrup being the same as sugar... and the pregnant pause after "you know what they say about high fructose corn syrup..." suggesting whacko conspiracy theorist witch hunt mentality against a manufactured sugar that likely holds a good deal of responsibility for the diabetes epidemic in the country. Most Americans are slowly poisoning themselves.
Hopefully I can provide some insight into your question, OP. While I am not fat (I may be 3-5 pounds overweight), I exemplify the traits of the typical 'fat-so'. By that, I mean that I eschew almost any form of physical activity, I eat only processed foods, and I don't "care". Well the last part is wrong. I do "care" but clearly not enough, or else I would change my ways, now wouldn't I?! The main reasons for such preferences is the following: - It is easy: Processed foods require little to no preparation and I am rather lazy in general (although I do actively work at improving my overall motivational attitude towards things I don't like doing). Exercising IS hard. Let's face it, getting really sweaty and incredibly exhausted IS work. - I do not get a "runner's high" (in the generalized sense here): By this, I mean that, unlike many exercise-lovers and healthy-food-advocates, I do NOT feel a boost in my mental state in the short or long term after exercise or eating well. In fact, for exercise, I usually end up very angry and irritated even if I was completely serene and content beforehand. And I dislike eating in general - it is neither fun nor appalling to me - I eat so I can live. - Lack of motivation: Like I mentioned earlier, I am the type of person who is intrinsically lazy. And, in my 24 year life, I have made strides in combating my lazy-streak, but it almost all has gone towards intellectual pursuits, for example, studying for an incredibly difficult final exam in a graduate-level Mathematics course so I can graduate college early (I earned my BS in Mathematics in 3.5 years). But in all my attempts to lessen my "physical" laziness, they have failed. But I still try (which perhaps some of the morbidly obese have stopped doing) - Medications: many overweight people are overweight because of medicine they take. The main culprits are SSRI antidepressants which are used for a myriad of issues, many completely un-related to depression. I honestly believe that is one of the main reasons why Americans are so heavy. But the flip-side is ironic! Without the medicine, the person would likely become overweight as self-medication for their depression or anxiety (obviously not all would, as psychotherapy is known to be successful for alleviating mild to moderate depression in equal numbers as SSRIs are...). But again...what's more appealing to a depressed person: taking a pill OR running five miles? I hope this helps to shine some light on the situation. You are to be commended on your physical condition. You are in much better shape than me and you are nearly triple my age. And don't regard the American's disdain for your bathing suit with much weight...they may just be jealous that you can wear it and they cannot (lest they resemble the young man in the photo you posted)!
^ there's an answer to the processed food problem get a bag of frozen vegetables, maybe mixed vegetables you pour some into a microwave safe dish, maybe put in a little water, then zap it for 5 minutes. boom, it's done. put a rubber band around the vegetables, then put the bag in the freezer also, get a bag of potatoes. chop up a potato, put it in a microwave safe dish, zap it for six or seven minutes if you get a pressure cooker, you can cook some lentils and beans with water. 20-45 minutes, depending on the beans you use. not that hard to do.
I don't know, but why is it always "why are people fat?" It seems like people are more concerned with overweight people and how they got that way. What I don't a lot of is people asking why people are underweight, which is also unhealthy. If it is because of anorexia or bulimia people seem to just say, "oh poor them, they have a psychological issue or body dysmorphia." What if the person who is overweight has a medical condition, or a food addiction? It seems like that never gets questioned, it's always "they are just fat and lazy." Oh and so everyone knows I am overweight myself and no I don't like it and I am trying to do something about it.
