I think that undecided people are more likely to read a controversial thread and not make a post. Posts are made mostly by people who have already decided what their position is on an issue. That creates the illusion that nobody is undecided about anything. I can go along with your first example, but not the second. The science world knows what carbon dioxide is, what it does, and that we've been putting a shitload of it into our atmosphere for a long time. It's not a very complicated issue. CO2 traps heat. Period. Nothing else we need to know about it. Nothing to argue about.
Unfortunately, CO2 does a better job of holding in heat than most other gasses found in nature. That's why they call it a "greenhouse gas". It acts kind of like glass in a greenhouse, holding in heat from the sun. I was lucky enough to have a high school teacher who knew how to explain this to ordinary kids like me. Personal note: Congratulations, Willie! You're only one post away from becoming a Senior Member! :cheers2:
I'll answer the rambing Willy Blue. "Natural" actually CAN be used. Climate shifts have occured since the beginning of time. some have been severe, catastophic, sudden, and drastic. What we see now cannot be fully blamed on man as many want to do. Global warming is defined as the fault of man.
Careful for what you believe coming from a high school teacher. He has his own truth, but you put him up against other scientists, and they'll present you with a whole different picture. Even science is controversial.
Which of these do you disagree with? Humans burn a lot of stuff every day, to produce energy. Burning stuff produces CO2. CO2 doesn't go away quickly. CO2 holds in heat very efficiently. I can't imagine any of that seeming controversial to anyone who passed basic high school science. None of this is new information, or anything that is being debated by scholars. Even the spokesmen from oil companies refuse to discuss this kind of specifics. They have no counterpoints.
You tell me...In the mean time here's some more of my political views you can listen to while you give your answers.... http://www.ourstage.com/profile/rjhangover/songs
Side note: volcanoes, forest fires, and rotting forest are the top producers of co2 Humans account for only .28% of co2 emissions
No. Did I say that I am a proponent of pollution? Or that I don't care about the environment? No, I did not.
calgirl...I wait with baited breath for your answers...it's the JUST ANSWER poll in the polls section of the sex forum...in case you forgot.
I agree. It's maddening. Here's a sarcastic guide to successfully partaking in the political discourse: http://waywardadvice.com/winning-politics-influence-people-get-your-way/
