if a "man's man" is someone that drinks beer, watches football, yells at his "bitch" to make him a damn sandwich, works construction making shit money, watches war movies, and all that bullshit, than no thanks, I'd rather be a human being than a "man".

Sorry if I like to drink wine, listen to jazz and read poetry. I'm not trying to prove my masculinity. I'm actually comfortable with what and who I am. Imagine that.

I think if we stopped focusing on being "manly" (which is a completely archaic and obsolete notion anyway) and instead focused on acting humanly, I think things would change for the better. Or we could all go back to manual labor, slam hammers, and be "manly" grunts without a mind.

this manly idea is what I was raised in and it is fucked up. why work so hard to be a stereotype. Most women don't want a manly man to beat her every night he comes home drunk from the bar after hanging out with his buddies and watching sports. There's a difference between a man with confidence that does what he likes (even if it's picking goddamn flowers) and a man that does what he thinks men should do.

    think for yourselves.

no, the problem with this discussion is the viewpoint that anything feminine is bad. Even the OP's use of the words wuss and pussy illustrate that the real issue is that anything feminine has been demonized by our society and has become undesirable. It started way way back when the Romans decided to embrace Christianity and turn it into a tool of oppression, made the feminine aspect of Creation something Evil, and turned God into Father, and it's apparently still alive and well today.

Real men can accept those aspects of themselves that are "womanly" rather than try to prove to anyone how much of a man they are.

    Was that a joke?

because it looks really funny with how the guys in your sig are dressed.

I am very proud that I am not a "real" man. And really there are still to many idiots who fit into that stereotype around.

I fart and watch sports...does that make me manly?

I hate gender stereotypes. How about we just be who we are?

Why is "bros before hos" manly? Even edited to "male friends before women" it is not a good attitude for a man.

Its not a statement of gender solidarity, its a statment that "my friends are the most important thing in the world" (I've noticed that those who say "bros before hos" don't have women friends.) Its a reemphasis of the peer group over strangers. Its an acceptance of all that your friends do to others. "Us against the world" "My way or the highway" reflect similar attitudes.

I find little that is admirable in those notions.

well said & thats why im a treehugger hugger :)
but ithinkthats why the whole rebelion here the whole i amman bullshit its just theyre so closed off & incapable of dealing withwomen as emotionalbeings..or beings at all
theyre so used to the idea that they are above women & women are simple minded servents & playthings
ithinkthey know theyre losing out but rebel against the notion of change
they try pretty hard to beat women backintotht submissive roll but it fails since these days women know theyre strength..
anywaysa mans true strength lies in his power of understanding & compassion cause thats whats needed in this world today not more hard headedness & stuburnrefusal toaccept the odvios
its a defferent world todaythen it was 1000 years ago the hunter gatherer protector warior model of manliness is rediculous today

But yes. It turns out we can understand each other. But only if we're open to it
