just wondering...i love the magic of the 50's....the poppy sounds, the real rock'nroll, jazz, big band.... anyone sharing my thoughts? cansy sue
Yeah, when I'm in the mood it's good music. I don't like to listen a whole evening 50's music though.
If you like the bebop jazz era the 50s were a great time. I like a lot of the pop artists from the 50s. That slice of time from about 56 to 58 had a lot of creative work in rock. It didn't last long, though. Elvis left for the military, Holly, Valens, and Richardson (Big Bopper) all got killed, and the rest were involved in scandals that turned some people off. After that, pop declined into the doo-wop era until the Beatles shook things up again. There were a lot of good instrumentals from the 50s too. I like some of the music from the beach movies that were so popular in the late 50s. 'Teach Me Tonight' was good. There have been many recordings of that tune. 'Theme from A Summer Place' was good also. 'Canadian Sunset' was a nice tune too. For those who like novelty music, the 50s was the Spike Jones era. He was the Weird Al Yankovic of the 50s. He could take beautiful songs and tear them to shreds. .
I'm into 50's and 60's music, from bebop to surf to tittyshakers to rockabilly to early garage or belgian popcorns! Got a fair amount of 45 RPM that will instantly make people dance! Nowadays records label such as Jazzman records, Norton records or Born Bad records reissue music from this era. Candy, I know you live in Belgium, right? you should consider listening to the belgian show of wallonia radio Classic 21 called "cool cats" focusing on this era.
