I was not commdeming anyone, I just agreed that there wern't many Black Hippies and the Filmore was a ghetto reguardless of where the term came from a ghetto it was..
AS far as their'plight' I think it was all of our plight to change the system of things. For women, for black people, for all the minorities. Eqaility for ALL not just the rich.

i know of course there were ghettos, but to say(not you) we have them and N.Y. didn't was ubsurb. Our problems with the other races were mostly out of our own fears and the fact we were crowding into the cities.i've always had more problems with my fellow white "hippies" trying to scam

Wow! I'm proud! I stirred up the hornets that time.

First: a "ghetto" exists in the mind. There were and are no fences around Harlem, The Lower East Side, The South Bronx or the Fillmore District. Residents were able to leave at anytime and find work-- and there was work EVERYWHERE in 60's-era-Vietnam War-era-America. But, no, they wanted work in their backyard at union wages even though they had no demonstrable skills.

I worked cross-country pipeline in the early 70's, making big money. I was living in a bar-hotel south of Pittsburg and I held the bar steady every night after work. The clientele were mostly coal-miners, 100% white. Many of them were laid-off and constantly bitching they had no work. I said, "Come up to the job-site and ask for work. Maybe they'll put you on." They would look at me as if I had proposed an indecent act. "We're coal-miners, not pipeliners!" the idiots would exclaim, thereby self-limiting theirselves and ensuring further unemployment. But, then, what more can one expect from human-groundhogs?

Fuck all this liberal propaganda I constantly read on these boards. Remember one big thing-- Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs, two titans of the Beat movement, were stone (ed) conservatives politically. And, so am I.

Just once--just once!, my little pussycats-- I'd like to read a word of praise for President Bush who is trying his best to protect Americans from the unrelentingly evil Muslim hordes.

    Just fucking-aye once!

i give Bush a lot of praise for being good at sucking ass.The twin towers came down on his watch, that doesn't make me feel safe.Hamas(read nazi)is in control of pakistan now, how'd that happen? He's got things under control alright.Of course, maybe that is his best...
what is a conservative anyway? It seems in the 60's they supported big brother and big government, but now they've traded places with the liberals. It's so fucking confusing. If there's ever such a thing as an ultraliberal conservative ,i'm there.i'd love to see buccanon sitting next to nader. They're two men i trust.Bush is a fucking weasel.

Praise for Bush? Surely you jest! No here, I'm afraid. Why don't you try a rightwing republican forum. Oh, I understand that alot of them are fed up with him too... Yer definately in the minority dood.

I know what yer sayin' about people who don't wanna work. This county is probably UNOFFICIALLY one of the most unemployed places in the USA. Folks complain about no jobs constantly. But I've been in a position quite a few times where I had money in my pocket and was tryin' to hire somebody, anybody to do some work, but nobody wanted the job. And the ONE time I did manage to find someone who said they'd work, they spent 2 weeks and $1,800 if my money "fixing" leaky roofs, only to have them never finish the job, and the roofs still leak...

I wonder just what you are actually doing , that you feel is doing your part? I have been watching this thread , which is alot like sooooooooo many others out on these forums; started by a youngun with totally good intention n yet has only read it somewhere n somehow in there mind that is being read y n doin the part.... Then when the older mamas here put there efforts into it and speak what they do n how they do their part in it all and bring the past experiences into it, the younguns feel slapped in the face ,,, sometimes with a wet noodle n sometimes with a cat o nine....... i dont quite get it......

n just as earth mama n the beatiful shameless bovine wrote above about getting people to help or teaching the ways etc etc ,,,, aint smoked enuf to babble,,,,:).. tis like gettin blood outta a stone n trying to show becomes more a battle of i read n i experienced this n therefore know a bit more than your book shit game...

so tell me tell me i gotta know young lady, what is doin your part????

Look here, Gate: I'm 59 years old, worked since I was born (on the farm), then construction, factories, truckdriving, self-employed stonemason, and I'm fucking tired. I have congestive heart failure, asthma, arthritis of both knees and right shoulder. I've paid taxes all my goddamned life. If I don't deserve help in my old, sick years, then who in the fuck does?

    Kiss my ass.

You're exactly right, but if the fucking horse is already in the pasture, why not ride it if you need it? Ayn Rand's fundamental mistake was believing all capitalists were rational. Wrong. She never foresaw international corporate capitalism.

But--really-- who loses sleep over any of this shit?

I'd love to see pics of your stone work. Me, I don't have a scanner, and don't know how to post pictures if I did.

17 goddamn inches of snow outside. And, the experts called for 5. Fuck Pennsylvania in the winter.

All my life I worked, paid taxes, refrained from shooting irritating assholes, stayed out of prison and paid more taxes. Now, I'm getting old (have been gray for 10 years), I'm sick and can't really work much.

In 3 years I can get SS. So, what the fuck if I get it sooner for disability? I earned it.

If Oprah would tout my novel on her show, I wouldn't need a goddamn penny of govt. money, but she won't, so I ain't too proud to take their meagre handouts. $205 a month, I don't need; $152 a month food stamps, I can live without-- all I really wanted was the Medicare.

Forgive me for wanting to know if my constantly aching shoulder is arthritis, a muscle pull or bone cancer.
