Walked right on in--and bought my first legal weed---in a weed store! I first smoked in '58 when I was 18. Didn't do anything. What I bought yesterday--DOES SOMETHING. Just seems weird in a way, with all those years hiding away to smoke a little JUJU. (Do I hear some cars being loaded and heading west?)
The girl showed me a bunch of little jars containing different strains with names on each for sniffing. She said here's some _'name here'_______whatever to sniff. Being the wise-ass I am, I said I don't care about the names, unless you have some called 'dick in the dirt! laughed and gave me high THC stuff. Anyway--hope the rest of you get caught up to Oregon.
Once weed is legalised and normalised, It's gonna be so hard explaining the culture around it to future generations. "when I was your age, I could have been arrested for selling this"
In most cases you could still be prosecuted for selling. Legalization means that authorized agents may sell not that everyone can sell. Scratcho, that is great news.
Way to go Scratcho! I purchased my first 1/8 ounce of blackberry kush and blue dream over the counter 2 weeks ago. I totally know that surreal feeling of buying something that used to be so forbidden right over the counter in a place so close to home. It's a complete reality check! Not only that but I actually applied to a job at a marihuana store! It would be pretty cool to work there to supplement additional income. Now we don't have to drive up to Washington anymore.
The day I can walk into a store and choose from a vast selection of high quality herb is a day I will remember and cherish forever.
Yay for us!! I remember back in the late 60s when the LA Free Press and the Berkeley Barb were going strong, there was an article about a man that got a life sentence for a joint!!!! I'm not kidding around or exaggerating! That happened in Texas. I'm sure he got his sentence thrown out at some point--------jeez---he couldn't STILL be in jail!! But smoking it used to cause big paranoia when driving and a cop would appear. It's funny now,but---------------
Paranoia as memory. Driving in Seattle,1968 after smoking some greazzzzy weed. To passenger: "man, I feel really loaded!" Passenger responds: " me too." Turns around. Says: "shit man, that looks like a cop car!" Me: WHAT? WHERE? BEHIND US? SONUVABITCH. SHIT! IS HE RIGHT BEHIND US? NO! I CAN'T GO TO JAIL--SHIT!!SHIT!! Passenger: I THINK HE'S RIGHT BEHIND US, MAN! WHADUWEDU?WHAUDUWEDU? Me: QUIT TURNING AROUND, GOD-DAMMIT!! WE'RE SCREWED, MAN! EAT THE WEED! EAT THE WEED! Passenger: SHIT MAN, I CAN'T EAT A LID 'A WEED---I'LL CHOKE, SURE AS SHIT!! Me: HERE HE COMES. ACT STRAIGHT--ACT STRAIGHT!! Just then, the car that was behind us passes us slowly. It contains a little white haired lady and she's going about 18 miles an hour. Evidently, we were almost breaking 15MPH. Smoke and repeat.
Next thing on my to-do list is smoke a joint and wave to a police officer walking by. Oh man that would be so awesome, but I don't know if I can actually pull myself to do that just yet. I know it's still against the law to smoke in public property, but still.....
I started waving at the helicopters that would come to check out the crops....but the first time even though I was legal I was freaked out and shaking. They got really close(thought branches wore going to break from wind created) then went over a field next door and circled for a bit then flew away.
legal weed stuff was the best when i smoked it, i had no paranoia my parents would smell it coz it didnt stink. cheaper, better high, no stink, no dodgey friends i have to pretend to like to get it. i stopped for reasons then it all became illegal. but im sure its still around in some other form.
Glad to see this progressive chance has reached your area as well I did this since I was 16 (nowadays you have to be 18 to legally buy weed here in the Netherlands). Overall it hasn't improved in my country, for instance when I was 16 I could also legally buy magic mushrooms in the smart shops. Now not at all (tourists and other irresponsible trippers fucked it up). The weed itself is still not legal to grow for commercial purposes, causing the coffeeshops (as you probably know that's how the weed shops are called here) to still have an illegal aspect to their business. In that way countries like Urugay and the USA seem to be further. Ah this is very possbile to do in my country :-D It has kind of lost it's thrill
I wonder if I'll live long enough to see the day when legal cannabis will be available in the UK......at present it seems unlikely that the govt. here will ever move towards legalization. Back in the 00's they changed the category from 'class B' to 'class C', only to reverse that a few years later. Mainly due to concerted campaigns in the gutter press. And in line with the generally socially regressive phase we seem to be going through in this country at present. Recently some police chiefs have said their forces will not be pursuing it, but still it remains illegal even for medical use, which is pretty bad. Probably if the federal govt. in the US were to go for full legalization, the UK would follow suit. But as of now it isn't looking very promising.
