I'm not presuming to know the mind or will of God. I'm looking at the Bible and trying to make sense of the various references to homosexuality. The alternative view is that all homosexuality is wrong. Is that the one you prefer. And which item(s) would you take out of the basket?
Hmm... I'm pretty sure no one ever claimed to know the will of god. I personaly find the existence of a personal god to be very unlikley, and am not discussing the will of god, but the bible. If false condemnation is all you have to offer, please go away.
Vanity is the misapprehension of what is so. All that we think we know is a product of our own minds, a product of our interpretation of sensation. Actually Jesus spelled out in very succinct terms God's will for us as that of a parent for a child. God's will for us is that we have the good, that we be happy. Your will and God's will are the same will. You being created in the likeness and image of God.
I am not condemning anyone unlike others who would lump certain consenting adult behavior such as prostitution and promiscuity with child rape. So it boils down to utterances that were attributed by a certain author to a man they called Jesus.
The hilarious thing about Jesus is that he is one of literature's most richest and popular figures that lived, but never actually wrote a single book. Not bad huh
He said remember me, not "write this down." To remember is to become again, a member. The difficulty begins and ends when we regard reality as something to be conformed to rather than something to be comprehended. You cannot help but be real, however we have come to doubt our own reality.
Don't blame it on Jesus, man. He never said a word about homosexuality or prostitution, although he had plenty to say about judgmental, pharisaical religion.
I agree with your take on many things. My posting has gone to the dogs on this thread, silly vampish emotionalism. but who is going to take any of it seriously. certainly not those in power. Shore the pharisees are detestable and may be you can blame them for the problems in Christianity. Then again may be pharisism was an essential ingredient in Christianities survival over the long turn. In any case Revolutionary doctrines and idealism tend to go sour in power. Dope: I don't ever recall commenting on the sexuality of or lack of in eunuchs. In any case you probably know more than me about such things.
Actually I thought Okiefreak would take a look at that. I think you have a valuable position and you can make a huge difference in actually practicing whatever philosophy you come up with.
Good points. And I agree with you from an evolutionary standpoint that the particular nasty brand of doctrinaire authoritarianism that became the dominant form of Christianity won out over its rivals because of superior survival value, if not truth. Us Progressive Christians are pussies.

Excuse me? I find that the lion lays down with the lamb. Those who would regulate through doctrine have no trust, faith, as by virtue of the doctrine, everyone becomes suspect. Everyone becomes a sinner liable to punishment. Whereas the word sin, to "miss the sign", is an error in perception, and would be better remedied through education: Go and learn what this means, I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
