Just wondering, as far as the Presidents power to “pardon” certain criminals in jail?? What’s your thoughts on that? Say it was up to you, you could just create a list of current people who are now serving jail time and just say “Ok, As President of the US, these people are hereby released:”??? Who would you like to forgive and let them out of prison??
Every person serving any kind of weed conviction. Victims of domestic violence, rape, or human trafficking convicted of killing their attackers. Various and sundry serving ridiculously draconian sentences under "three strikes" laws, mandatory sentencing guidelines, and people who were denied adequate representation and abrogation of their due process rights due to skin color or poverty. I'd also commute every death sentence.
There's one person who immediately comes to mind because it's almost certainly a wrongful conviction. In fact, if I had such power, I'd probably focus mostly on people whose convictions are shaky at best.
At this point, I would pardon Nixon posthumously as he seems like a saint compared to the shit Emperor Orange is getting away with.
