I doubt the presidents lifestyle has anything to do with our trade deficit. Trade deficits don't even mean the same thing in a globalised economy, the rate of imports to exports isn't as important as income and access to trade, which is rapidly improving. You know George Washington was paid about $25,000 a year, and he spent 7% of his salary on booze. Thats about 1.25 million today I think, so that means about 100 grand a year on the sauce.
you've never heard of cell phones and telecommuting, have you? frankly, i'm just giddy that he can't sign into being any more rights-inhibiting legislation. you get cranky about him being outta the white house if you like, but i'm very satisfied with his current absence.
