WHO will be Hollywood's Next Sexual Assaulter??

When I say ''evidence'' ...I mean, of the individual cases. There are good and bad studies out there. There is validity in these studies.

In our culture, we are taught as women to play the victim when it's convenient and to be tough when it's convenient. I don't like that. As a woman, it insults me. I don't need a movement to tell me how to be or how to view myself.

We all think differently on this, but that's how I see the media portraying women, in general. On the one hand we don't need men, or shouldn't need men, but then we suddenly need men to defend us from every bad decision we make? lol No...the Hollywood scandals involving women who willingly slept with directors, etc...sorry, that's not rape. If a guy tells you to sleep with him or you lose your job, and you do it...that's not rape. That's wrong, the guy is a predator, but it's not a crime. I'm not against #metoo, but I think it is starting to portray women as helpless victims, and using men as scapegoats for bad decisions that we make.

Rape is a crime. And should always be treated as such. But, many of these women weren't raped. Or assaulted. They did things they didn't wish to do, but they chose their careers over their values/bodies, is what actually sounds like happened. It's wrong what those men did, but those women could have said 'no.' Some of them did. Those are the women I admire...I don't admire women who sleep with men to get ahead, and then cry assault decades later.

That's more of my point.

The James Franco one, she is on the couch with James Franco, which probably means sharing a joint or two, watching whatever, he grabbed a boob or her ass or sonething, and thats it, somehow thats a victim.

You are snuggled in the couch, maybe a liitle stoned, James franco looks at you with those eyes, tell me you are then not going to want to have him tear off your panties with his teeth. I heard that one, and i thought, wow frigid much.

yeah i think most women have been there, in one of these hideously awkward, uncomfortable sexual encounters. She honestly just sounds hopelessly young and naive, too afraid to speak up and say "no dude, you're not good at this and i'm not turned on and i'm leaving."

I blame the blog that broke this story more than I blame her, they shouldn't have conflated regret sex with sexual assault and published the piece to begin with, it was irresponsible.

oh. i hear you. I guess we are talking about two different things. I am talking strictly of cases where the accusation actually meets the legal definition of assault and rape.

I don't think cases where women conflate regret sex with sexual assault would hold up in a court of law, which is why you aren't really seeing these cases making it to court. But unfortunately in the celebrity world the court of public opinion still has enough sway to ruin their careers.

I am 100% in agreement that women have the agency to say no...
although I think there are some shades of grey there when a powerful Hollywood producer, for example, is threatening someone's career.

Coercion is a whole other thing and i'm not sure why holding a woman's career over their head in exchange for sexual favors should just be acceptable in Hollywood when it wouldn't be acceptable in any other industry. And in that case it truly does seem like like poetic justice that someone like Harvey Weinsten has had his career ruined for using his power in Hollywood as a means of sexual coercion.

Aziz Ansari and any similar situation is a whole other beast though and the idea that he did something wrong does suggest that women have no agency to simply say no, put their clothes on, and go home. I am in agreement with you there.

I totally get where you're coming from, in the other posts, as well. It can be hard to convey points just with words sometimes, but I appreciate you understanding where I was coming from, and I agree with your points, here.

It's weird, before getting married, I was never into one night stands. Not that rape can't happen in a relationship, it can. But, men would test the waters with me, seeing if I'd have sex, barely knowing them...and it always felt too risky. On numerous levels. Disease, getting pregnant by a guy I don't even know, and potentially being raped and chopped up into little pieces, always crossed my mind. lol This doesn't mean that going back to a guy's place means that sex is a given (or that he should assume that), but being cautious can never be underrated.

Regarding Weinstein, why hasn't this guy been brought up on charges? I'm just throwing that question out there to anyone here. I think he is someone who should be incarcerated, from all that I've learned about him.

Also be interesting because the storyline sounds creepy but Malkovich would get away with it, one of those interesting but ugly types where the interesting transcends the not so attractive.
