Some good passages but most of them are irrelevant trash... Dont read to much into the 'Holy' book. This is coming from a child of Christ by the way

I've read it cover to cover 3 times, but it still makes no sense! If you like long winded anicent epics, I recommend you skip the bible and read the Odyssey. Much more interesting!

I like the samson story and psalms has some good stuff in there. It seems there are two jesuses, and dont thnk they would get along very well. actualy ive read ALOT of religoius text and found the ones that spun off from the jews to be the oddest, they combine the tradition of a kind, just god of virtue with the ones that rule by fear.
personaly i think you should have a god you can emulate, but thats just me :)

Some people think the bible is an historical text, some think it's a fairytale.
I think it's a cookbook, and I figure; if you follow the recipe and you wind up with something good who gives a fuck what the chef's name was.

Literalists; "Thou shalt beat two eggs and simmer to a boil, lest yea die".

Skeptics; "i tried eating the bible once and it tasted like shit and at the end I was still hungry (and my stomach hurt)".

I don't think it matters; was Jesus of Nazereth God incarnate? Who the hell knows.
Will you have a better life if you treat people the way you want to be treated? I'll get back to you on that.

I read it, most of my life. Up until about 3 years ago. And I can tell you this much ...

The sermons you hear being preached from most denominational pulpits have been twisted from the actual "truth" in the bible.
    and...
The bible contains very little useful information...

Ecclisiasties (sp?), Wisdom, Psalms, and Proverbs has some cool stuff in it, and the Gospels have some good ideas in them where Jesus is speaking (though not all he preached totally jives with me).

But I've never read all of it. Not even in elementary school, which was a Catholic school. I guess Catholics don't accentuate reading the whole bible. Mostly just Genesis, Exodus, and the New Testament (and only sections of that). Maybe if I'd gone to High School there we'd have read it. But before I stopped believing, I did try. Fucking boring, the lineages are so pointless. I couldn't even get out of Exodus. The morals aren't even that good, why does God order wars, genocides, and other atrocities? That's not a God I can respect let alone worship or love. And Jesus' bit about love and stuff doesn't make all that go away, ya know?
