    My best friend Karin for being a wonderful wonderful wonderful person, everyone else who has (had) a positive influence in my life, and I bet that if I'd start to name them all I'd forget more than I'd mention.

    Daniel Ellsberg and Woodward and Bernstein (in the days when they actually pursued unrelenting investigative journalism).

    Dorothy Parker:

    Here in my heart I am Helen;
    I'm Aspasia and Hero, at least.
    I'm Judith, and Jael, and Madame de Stael;
    I'm Salome, moon of the East.

    Here in my soul I am Sappho;
    Lady Hamilton am I, as well.
    In me Recamier vies with Kitty O'Shea,
    With Dido, and Eve, and poor Nell.

    I'm of the glamorous ladies
    At whose beckoning history shook.
    But you are a man, and see only my pan,
    So I stay at home with a book.

    What's not to love?

    I have influences more than heroes...and that is a sad thing, but I get more and they have less pressure....
    Art
    my sweetie: www.tiedyepaul.com
    Keith Campbell, a live painter who catches soul more than image in a short time
    Steve Kimock, for telling the Denver crowd what they needed to hear: STFU
    Mickey Hart for is talent, inspiratio, quirkiness and research. The Smithsonian has a grand ethnomusicologist in that man.
    The Kannalistas for pushing the boundaries and channeling IT.
    Tom Robbins, Alice Walker and Chaim Potok for their words
    Michael Moore for being able to get his ideas out for discussion
    Mark Henson for the images
    Alex Grey for what is behind his images

    other realms
    Dennis Kucinich for trying
    my editor Jeremy for grace under pressure day in day out and proving redhead does not mean tempermental

    My aunt. I explained that in the inspiring people thread.
    My grandfather. He died when I was 7. He was such a great person, I wish he lived longer. I've gone most of my life without him, but I still think about him a lot. We talk about him a lot in my family, but it's not the same as seeing him.
