Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Hope Sandoval, Etta James.. to name a few. And then, there's my all-time favorite.. PJ Harvey, whose screams and moans give me goosebumps.
In order even if there's no competition ...i don't see it as a sport... 6- Shirley Manson from Garbage...seductive little woman 5- Janis Joplin ...she's a great singer but it's like AC Dc after 40 min...it burns my nerves 4- Grace Slick ...she know how to shape her place in a band made of man with egos on fire 3- Sandy Denny from British-cult-folk band Fairport Convention...when i hear this band ...i'm back into those medieval days...when every week was a fight to survive in the middle of those poor british fields... Just hear this band & voice with a little fire in a corner of your house... lost somewhere in the country ...with an autumn wind outside...mmmhhh 2- Nina Persson from the Cardigans...she's gettin' more and more emotional with every album... 1- Hope Sandoval ...ex-singer of Mazzy Star...she's...she's just an angel who felt on earth...it sounds like that really! I've forgot 2 or 3 woman with great voice...probably in the old soul section...whatever (god damn i've got just right now the Shangri-la's in mind) ...somebody was taalkin'bout Beyonce Knowles.....who is he ? Is he the singer of Spinal Tap ? ...'cause it sounds like a bad joke in this holly list...
Natalie Merchant is from Geneva ...i'm from there too...and i hope i will cross her way one day...'fore my old days...
Well, I have to say that my favourite female singer has to be Sandy Denny (if I saw it well, mentioned 2 times before me in this thread...), closely followed by Maddy Prior (1 time mentioned...).

Well this isn't my most favorite female singer, but as of right now I'm enjoying the lead singer from I.O. Crisis is pretty cool too.
My favorite female singer is a good friend of mine Nicki Moss from moss 85. If I had to pick someone "famous" I would say Stevie Nicks. She's a real sexy lady.
