Who is your Favorite Communist???

Communism was built on the basis of highly-developed social wealth and martials, then how how accumulate enough social wealth as soon as possible? The best and the most efficient way to fulfill it is to let the capital rule everything.

 

Hey hey hey... no government! How bout that? I honestly dont know if its been tried... but wudnt it make sense? Tell me about it... but I view life as a waiting room, for whatever is ahead. Anyhow, wouldnt it just be better if we just lived in peace, no ruling or government, people just... LIVING, smokin some pot, having parties, ya know... Yeah i probably sound like a hardcore hippy, and I understand u need something to run everything, but why not just provide for yourself?

Anyhow, communism doesnt work, plain and simple, probably no more then my views expressed above would eventually work out, point being, it looks good talking about it, but when put into action, just... isnt good... look at the results...

The so-called communism of the past didn't work -- but then nothing else really does either. Last week there was a front page article in the Wall Street Journal relating that in 1979 the income disparity between the poorest 10% of the population in the USA and the richest 10% was 6 fold. Now that disparity is 15 fold.

What are the goals of mankind? Of any society? Are they not quality of life, equality and morality? (And when you speak of morality that in large part means simply the other two: quality of life and equality.)

The thing is to get to the utopian ends you have to make an explicit committment that that's where you want to go. Is capitalism identical with quality of life and equality? No. It's just an economic system. Then it's not going to take you where you want to go. Are anarchy or libertarianism identical with quality of life and equality? No. Then they also are not going to take you where you want to go. True socialism or communism as I view them -- and I don't mean the politicophilosophical or economic mumbojumbo of the past -- do make these committments.

There's no point in worshipping a means to an end if you don't have a vision of what you want that end to be.

Incidentally, I see that Ho Chi Minh has gotten only 10% of the vote in this poll. Here again I know next to nothing about him, however a couple months ago I heard an NPR report about this lady working in a gravel quarry in Vietnam. Vietnam is a dynamic nation nowadays with widespread improvement in quality of life. But inequities always occur and this lady lamented "Uncle would have wanted things better for all of us." I wrote a post about it here at protest nobody payed much attention. "Uncle" is Ho Chi Minh. Anyway it gave the impression that Ho Chi Minh might have been a pretty decent guy insofar as he appears to be remembered for his committment to well being for all.

The problem with the other tries at communism, is they didn't give ALL the power to the people, as Engles (the other dude behind Communist theory) said:

“The time is past for revolutions carried through by small minorities at the head of unconscious masses. When it gets to be a matter of the complete transformation of the social organisation, the masses themselves must participate, must understand what is at stake and why they must act. But so the masses may understand what is to be done, long and persistent work is required.”

Fuck leaders, what is the point of liberating the people, just to have them the pawns of vanguards? This is where the others when wrong, it is all or nothing, the people must have all the power.

 

The focus of my own efforts is to insist 1) on having an ideal goal and 2) that this goal be equality and morality. Another element I didn't mention last time that goes without saying is 3) continual improvement of the quality of life. For everyone of course not just a few. I call it true communism based on true morality. It's a major reeducational task because so many people wrongly believe in discriminatory merit (i.e. that some deserve more and some less).

The other major question of course is the actual means to achieve the society defined by these ideals and that I leave up to strategists. I'll just say that we all learn from the mistakes of the past, Psy Fox is right to be suspicious of "leaders" and the Zapatistas are instructive.

So she made up a story about hearing "japanese broadcasts" on her new fillings during WWII and telling talk show hosts that she "saved" LA from an attack from the Japanese. First of all, the word Communist Does have a meaning and a destinct ideology behind it. If you look at the philosophy behind those who created the first ideas of "communism".. this philosophy was one which did NOT support massive government or ANY GOVERNMENT AT ALL. And because of the groundworks and the definitions made by the ORIGINAL FOUNDERS of communist theory, there is an OBVIOUS way to tell if someone has followed communist ideology or not. Any man who is educated in the first theories behind communism can differentiate between a communist and someone who had used 'communism' to gain power. Stalin was not a real communist.. if you do not believe me, go grab a fucking book, because you are a fucking moron.
Go read about the groundworks and the foundation of communist theory, before you start talking out your ass.

Second of all, communism isn't a "system of government" ... its an economic philosophy... (how many times do I have to say this?)and it works, has worked many times, works in many different places in the world... it is an economic theory, not a government... communism applies to both small and large societies, and has worked many times without killing a single person.

But it is common for capitalists who wish to spread such ignorance to make claims that the actions of Stalin were actually the actions of Lenin. This is used to shield people from the truth of what Lenin was about. The famine in which you are talking about is a result of Stalin, not Lenin...

Communism does work, and the prospects and guidelines of communism have been implemented all over the world and have worked tremendously for some societies. It looks good on paper, and it works too... but people assume that being a communist means you want a "government" to be communist... People think of communism as a form of government, when it is an economic theory... it can be used in ANY scale... and has worked for the most part in small to medium sized societies.
It hasn't been proven at all. Some communist societies have existed and have been working for hundreds of years.
Just because you do not think of them in the traditional sense of a communist society does not mean that it is not a communist society and does not mean that the people living in this society are not communists... indeed they are.

The past failures of supposed communist "states"(how contradictory that is) does NOT discredit the thousands of smaller working communist societies which have remained peaceful and successful. Many communist thinkers are so unknown by the majority of society... they never got big at all... but definitely there have been some genuine people out there who had tried there best... many of those who should be on a list of "great commies" will never be known by society... for the more well known ones though:

W.E.B Dubois is not known primarily for being a commie yet he was... he had some good ideas... was a respectful man... of course there are always disagreements among eachother but for the most part his intentions were good..
Trotsky also had some great ideas and some not so great ideas... he had done some bad actions during his time... i respect his ideas and what he brought to the table.
