Very well said and I'd agree with all of these. I'd also add Richard Alpert aka Ram Dass in there, and for me personally also Hunter S. Thompson, but not because of his drug use - though I do think it added a certain extra flavour to his already very unique style of writing.
Hunter S Thompson, Dr Timothy Leary is a close second though. In one of his last interviews he cracked me up saying. Interviewer asked him about some life regrets and his use of drugs expecting him to be an old man who would be full of remorse. Dr Leary says "My only regret is that I didnt do more psychedelics and make more love, and you can put that on my tombstone" Interviewer just cracked up laughing lol as did i cause i was on acid when i saw it
