the most IMPORTANT person i've ever met, well that would have to be stalking cat and lilla pruit. and sun bear. i've met a number of musicians and authors, i don't think any of them as important as indiginous tribal elders though. oh i met jerry brown and harlan ellison, togather, at a place where i was working at the time, and then ellison again later at a convention. well i think barbara boxer is kind of important too, and heather fargo. but i mean, does popular name recognition equal importance. i'm sorry but i don't think so. politicians are important for the decisions they make. entertainers are just lucky people with good incomes. i think people who write the kind of stories i like to read are important to me. and new picture makers just getting started, animators and technitions, people doing the kinds of things that interest me. everyone who has ever called me their friend is as important as anyone else though. everyone who has ever hugged me and meant it. my late wife and my two previous loves before her. i think those where as if not more important then any and every one else i ever have.

In 1974 a buddy and I were at a drag race in Union Grove Wisconson. We got a lesson from Roland Leong on how to properly mix nitromethane for his Hawaiian Funny Car.

Ate lunch Sunday and found The Drifters eating at the table next to us. We were able to visit with them for about 25 minutes before they had to leave.

I haven't met any celebrities that come to mind. Did a custom aquarium once for some guy and he had friends over when we were there one night, couldn't remember their names, but two guys and a woman, all actors at the time, '83.

My wife on the other hand has brushed elbows with a few. Her mother was a rodeo trick rider in the 50's-early 60's and was personal friends with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Gene Autry, and that crowd. My mother-in-law also met John Wayne on a handful of occasions. We have some pics of them around here somewhere and one of my wife with Slim Pickens when she was about 3-4 years old.
If I can find some I will post them.
The shit my mother-in-law did was insane, hanging upside down by one stirrup with her head inches off the ground while the horse runs at full gallop

As a result of rubbing those elbows my wife ended up babysitting for Robert Blake and his wife at the time, Sondra Kerr, while one of them was filming some movie or something, not sure what, it was in the mid-late seventies.
She confirmed the rumors, Robert Blake was a creepy, pervo asshole of the first degree.

The mother-in-law stayed in touch with Roy Rogers and Dale Evans up until his death.

Will post pics when I get them out of storage. ;)

oh and Gwen Stafani's personal nanny used to live across the street and I've caught glimpses of Gwen a couple of times.

    Aren't I special :D

I've met quite a few celebrities - actors, businessmen, sportspeople, designers, comedians, politicians and stuff. Generally, they have a lot less airs and graces than some idiot who works in a "normal" life.

But I think who's "important" can be a bit of an illusion. For instance, we were family friends with a fmr British prim.e minister and his gang. Only thing is, our prime ministers aren't actually that important/influential. Sure, some might appear to be more powerful than others. But Pressed Rat is right - they're glorified puppets of other forces, most of the time.

I've met a lot of random celebrities. I'd have to say my favorite has been Danny Devito. He is very cool.
