I had a chance to meet a character from the Aussie soap show called Neighbours at a career expo.

But a friend I was with got all nervous about it when I tried to bully him into going over to meet the guy with me. So my mate, love him to bits, chickened out and we left the expo to get some fastfood. I think we had KFC.

My brother went to a Manson concert about a year ago and got to shake his hand. Lucky prick.

I met Jay Leno at an airport in Toronto circa 1992?
We watched some dude inside the terminal have a heart attack.

I think I've posted this before...but if given the chance to do that meeting all over again, I'd sack him square in the testes and yell "That's for what you're going to do to Conan, bitch"

    Um ...

Vivienne Dean (world professional ice dance champion, 1976)

David Hay-Thorburn (world TREC champion a few years back) (it's an equestrian discipline)

    Colin Jackson (Olympic hurdles champion)

    Gavin Hastings (Scottish rugby footballer)

Omar Sharif (actor and bridge player)

Sir David Calcutt (Chancellor of Europe)

Sir Andrew Morritt (Chancellor of England)

Clement Freud (MP, raconteur, chef, entertainer etc.)

    Stephen Hawking (genius)

    How's that for a list??

Oh yeah, and one of our horses was sired by an Olympic dressage champion ... only, it was done by AI so I never actually met the stallion. I just had to go to Heathrow to collect a consignment of semen (nice!)

Just remembered ... there's another world champion, too.

When I was young and a serious athlete, I used to train at a gym alongside Liz Hobbs (world ladies' water ski champion) and Kurt Nicol (European Motorcross champion)

Guitarist Mike Pinera who was an absolute riot. We had an amusing chat about a concert that Cactus and Ted Nugent put on in the early 70's which I went to.
Peter Noone from Hermans Hermits, he seemed to be in a hurry to go give himself kisses in a mirror.
Ran into Minnesota Fats the pool hustler in the Bull Pen Lounge in Nashville, Ornery old coot.
Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny, A delight to meet.

When I was like 7 years old the old wrestler Terry Funk was teaching kids how to rope hay bales with cow skulls glued to them at the museum my class visited on a field trip. The only other experiences with anyone even remotely famous are listening to Marc and Jody Emery on a conference call with my boyfriend (he did artwork for a couple of ads in Cannabis Culture in 2007) and spending a weekend hanging out with Barry Cooper (guy who made the "Never Get Busted" and "Never Get Raided" videos). The weekend with Barry was freaking amazing, but he's a squirrely dude and ended up ducking out of a $3,000 bill. Shame.

I grew up sitting on the lap of a great man, one who taught me to play cards against my grandfather, who named his dog after him as he equated the dog with a scrappy little Scottish dude with a bark bigger than his bite, Uncle John called him andy. He stood down the house of commons to attend his wake and funeral, on the dockets. He and Auntie Olive were a main stay at weekends at my grandparents.

My grandfather was a party confidential man, fancy title for someone who kept the peace between parties and washed the linen before it could hit the lines to dry. :)

My nanny made dinner for all of us weekends and after that it was a round of euchker........may you depend on your partner for at least one trick. Rather ironic as not so far off of politics. :)

I have hanging in my home a signed original of the Canadian bill of rights. Signed in his own hand. I have first day postage issues going back to when I was born until he died, sent on parliamentary stationary and envelopes.

To my Uncle John, the Right Honorable John Diefenbaker.

Those are some very interesting people. Some of these people we go to a concert to see them not expecting to met them and some of these are people that you just happen to be at the right place and the right time. It is a small world after all.
