Oh well . It looks like a General Election for around the 12th December as Labour are expected to back the motion . Fantastic timing !? . Its right in the middle of the run up to Christmas . Nativity plays cancelled because the schools will be required as a Polling Station ? Are people really going to be that interested bearing in mind of the timing ? I presume January was ruled out because of the extension ? So as well as Carol singers we will have politicians tuning up on the Door Step . Just Fantastic
I could write a book on this subject. The sad truth is that both sides of the argument have vital failings at every step. all the way. In my opinion, the turning point was when Margaret Thatcher privatized national industries, RATHER THAN SORT THE PROBLEMS OUT. The structure of the civil service is crazy and based entirely on grade, rather than industry specific background. An ex dustman who works hard and licks all the right boots, can be promoted to run a hospital. Meanwhile, 10 miles down the road, a doctor who joined the civil service is promoted to run refuse collection. It is hard not to laugh, but I can give many REAL examples that you would find hard to believe. These are not something that I heard in a bar, Jane works for the UK government.
Ever the voice of reason, eh? I bet you are getting tired of Brexit. I actually feel like at least they're still trying. The latest bit of news that I got was that they have a 3 month extension to discuss the terms with the EU. Maybe I misunderstood though. I only hope that Britain gets a good deal. After all they're one of our closest allies here in the states.
Many of us are tired of Brexit . You can't escape from it unless you go overseas . Its on the TV ,Web,Radio bulletins , papers , posters, its every where . As Balbus as stated even when it is "over" its not because of the post Brexit ramifications.
I'm fed up of hearing about Brexit. The truth is that the European Union is its own nation. I can't blame the Brits for rejecting that.
And then just build a global conglomerate. And be like, "Oh, you're a member of the United States of Earth now. We can put this chip in your card or your hand if you want." Fuck that. I'm for Brexit. I like different countries. We can be different and still be unified. That's an important lesson Earthlings need to understand. But it really all boils down to the same old story of good vs. evil.

Brexit Bells ,Brexit Bells ,Brexit all the way Oh what joy Oh what fun , we will have When the politicians come our way.................................
I'm a green liberal tree hugger type and I'll be voting Conservative so how funny is that. At least now we can stop talking about another referendum because if there IS enough call for one LibDem should win, right?
Wilsjane The thing is that all organisations and institutions make mistakes and misjudgements it’s not just the public civil service that mess up it also happens in the private sector it’s just that it is easier to hide such things in the private sector or hire a PR company to spin and muddy the waters. Just look at the fuck ups behind the financial services crash that through political and right wing media spin is now blamed by many on the Labour Party that was in power at the time. For an example of a specific person been given the wrong job Matthew White Ridley a right wing journalist and Viscount been given Chairmanship of Northern Rock (his dad had been on the board and chairman). He drove it into the ground and it had to be bailed out by the government. Thing is that it didn’t hurt him he is still in the house of lords and writing books about how brilliant the free market could be if only government didn’t regulate it. And as is the nature of the world if things are running well that gets no praise but failures are always noted, especially if it is the civil service and especially by the right wing press which has an agenda when it comes to the civil service (privatise it).
Neoliberalism Neoliberal policies and ideas were not adopted or accepted everywhere and where they were not always to the same degree. It should be remembered that in many places in Europe ‘neoliberalism’ is called the Anglo-American economic model in opposition to the so called European Social model that gives greater protection against exploration and company power (workers’ rights, cutting down on tax evasion and regulating corporations) As pointed out many times this split is part of Brexit, with the neoliberals pushing for it believing the EU is too ‘socialist’ and the only way to build a neoliberal utopia is to leave it. It has also been noted that those countries that accepted and adopted neoliberalism the most where those that saw the biggest popularist backlashes against the corrupted systems neoliberalism had created, Trump in the US and Brexit in the UK.
