mmmmmmm na...it has saturated fat in it, but its good fat, with traces of essential omega oils in it. saturated ANIMAL fat is an entirely different thing though, and that is what clogs your arteries. thats probably how some well-meaning person concluded that and then spread that to you......

even doctors will tell people with high cholesterol to cut back on the animal products they probably overconsume like crazy.

keep in mind also, many americans also eat way too much protein. something like 3 times the amount, and it actually becomes bad for you at that point, and leaches minerals(calcium included) from your bones. got milk?

ahaha na i love em both. i try to avoid (carcinogenic)hydrogenated oils though, and buy brands like smuckers and organic peanut butter, but those take some gettin used to for most people. expeller pressed oils>partially hydrogenated oils>fully hydrogenated....

I'm considering becoming a veggie for personal reasons. I'm taking it slow though, trying to edge myself off of meat. [IMG]

You're very wrong about the hunger thing though. I can explain it later if you want, I don't really have the patience for it now. It's completly a myth caused by a very simplistic understanding of the causes of hunger.

For those who are thinking of turning vegetarian, vegan or whatever... I can give you some advice,
the reason you decide to change should be a very solid one, I don't think that your health is a good enough reason because you're more likely to cheat... When you do it for the animals or for the planet its more personal and you might feel bad if you cheat.
I say this from personal experience.
I decided to go veg 10 years ago. I just totally stoped eating animals because I thought it was bad to kill them. But at that time I still ate cheese and drank milk and all those "derived from". I didn't know that dairy cows also suffer.
The first time I quit milk and others, I did it for my health and that didn't last very long. But when I learned about the dairy farms I stoped and haven't cheated once.
Oh and another thing if you really care about animals, you better look up info on animal testing and animal by products like gelatin, cassein, steatric acid, collagen and many others. Many "natural and vegetarian" products have these ingredients.
    www.goveg.com is a great source

by the way i'm a vegan, a veeery strict vegan lol. the reason i said the hunger thing is because: think about it, how much grains and stuff do they feed a cow who is going to be killed? they only to make a few hamburgers in the end but the grains were just used to feed the cow until they decided to murder him/her. if someone doesn't eat the cow it would save all of those grains that the cow would have eaten. i've read that if no one ate meat there would be enough food for more than the whole human population. but these are just my reasons that i've read, i'm sure you have your own reasons too ofcourse though.

for everyone who don't know if they can be vegan, trust me it's easier than you can believe. i became vegan on august and i was adicted to meat before that, but they sell substitutes in health food stores and even regular super markets, it was hard to adjust to being a vegan but after a few weeks you'll wonder why you ever ate meat before. if you are interested in being vegan/vegetarian go to the site "silent" mentioned: www.goveg.com ithas all the information you need

    make a piggy happy! lol

What I like about being a vegetarien is you can live off of your own homegrown veggies without having to buy your food from the government corperations.I bet a whole lot of people would be growing there own food if they were willing to just eat fruits and veggies which could contribute to everyone being well fed!

I have wanted to go veggie for some time now but just haven't had the nerve to do it... since I turned 30 a few days ago, I decided that there is no time like the present (or immediate future) so going veggie is one of my New Year's Resolutions.

I'm a vegan if we all talk about justice, we should look into the animales eyes.
They have the right to live as well' and they don't want to die' and suffer.

I've been interested in going vegetarian myself, but just literally haven't made the effort to do it. I feel horrible for eating meat, b/c I feel so sorry for the animals and stuff, but I'm already really skinny enough, I just don't need to lose any more weight.

You won't neccessarily lose weight. I've been a vegetarian for about seven years now and I'm not fat but no one would say I'm skinny either.

Hmm, I don't think the animals should suffer, and die beacause of us.
You can find another kind of food, for not losing your weight.

There are SO MANY reasons to go VEG.
FIrst: the concentration camp vibe (u know the nazis.... it's exactly the same w big animal productions, really, this vibe lives on, and WE ARE RESPONSIBLE, EACH OF US, there is no excuse for not knowing)
second: health and environment: it is so OBVIOUS: being veg (and even better vegan) impoves ours and gaias health
Look into there eyes, the animals, and see them as.... You'll see, enventually.
I know this sound so pathetic, but i don't give a shit, but I can tell u something. I've got some friends, and there aint human, and yeah, its more than just on a "pet " level. Once you stop seeing animals as pets, food, wild things....
