i saw a bunch of shows featuring one hit wonders, radio hits, and legends...i had a friend in 6th and 7th grade (67-68) who's uncle worked at the local am radio station. i've also seen george harrison, jimi hendrix, bob marley, spirit, ccr. one of the best shows ever was a guy named virgil fox that played a huge pipe organ and had an awesome light show.
I grew up in Amarillo, Texas so we didn't get a lot of the real big names but I have seen: Jethro Tull Rush x2 Chicago x2 Heart John Denver (I know, not a band, give me a break!) x3 Alice Cooper x2 Emerson, Lake and Palmer x2 Kansas I think that is about all

Being over 60, my memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I'll see if I can remember them all. In New York, I've either seen or played on the same bill as: The Lost The Beach Boys The McCoys Peter Best The Midnighters The Animals The Dave Clark Five The Beatles The Rolling Stones The Four Seasons Sam and Dave The Barbarians The Hollies Buffalo Springfield The Byrds In California: Sanpaku Grateful Dead Jefferson Airplane Santana Spirit Sons of Champlin Lee Michaels Love The Who It's A Beautiful Day Ten Years After Richie Havens Fleetwood Mac Jethro Tull Homou City Funk Band Grand Funk Railroad Buddy Rich Rush Butterfield Blues Band Rolling Stones Led Zepplin I know there are more, but I just can't think of them all, right now. And, I STILL can't think of them ALL. In more recent years: Linda Ronstadt; Aaron Neville; BJ Thomas; Phil Keaggy; Bonnie Raitt; the Imperials; Andre Crouch; The Archers; Amy Grant; Allies; Leon Patillo; Lamb; Michael Card; Randy Stonehill; Harvest Flight; Phoenix Sonshine; 2nd Chapter of Acts; Petra; Koinonia BRAIN FREEZE!
Scorpio Kenny; Thanks for helping me remember some more! From YOUR list, I have also seen: Mountain, Dan Hicks, Canned Heat, Commander Cody, Edgar Winter, Elvin Bishop, James Brown, Joe Cocker, Johnny Winter, Leon Russel, New Riders, the Youngbloods, and Quicksilver. What a bunch of great (and not-so-great) groups. And I wonder how many others reading this actually remember the Crazy World of Arthur Brown? OH! Almost forgot: Moby Grape!
i saw lots of early 80's bands but only a few that were actually around in the 60s-70s. elvis costello rick springfield roger waters and of course i didnt see any of them until after 2k because thats when i finally made enough money to be able to go to concerts and still pay the rent.
Chuck Berry Beatles Beach Boys Mothers of Invention The Byrds Cream James Gang Eagles and those are just the ones I remember.
i'm sure i've seen a great many more live people then i have dead ones. oh, oh, you mean musicians physically present, performing on a stage in front of me? hmmm well that would be quicksilver james brown meatloaf cat stevens (that was still the name he was using at the time) buffy st marie. the san franciso philharmonic orchestra hobb's bard big bang butcher knife joe and the forrest hillbillys. a handful of groups who's names i don't remember, who did free concert in the park things. some of those in roseville in northern california and some in st johns, near portland oregon. maybe even one or two in a park in auburn california, though about that i'm less sure. well of course, there was the highschool band i played french horn in myself too. oh and there have been some live performances at some of the furry conventions i've been to and the bardic circle filk sings at science fiction conventions, with members of what was then off centaur, which evolved into firebird which evolved into promethius i think its called now. which which is more of an online store any more. and several members became published science fiction authors. and some actual physicist and other actual scientists. oh i almost forgot mckale and his performances with the little band. they were at earth day at sierra college in rocklin. (sometime in the 90s) and there have been drums at indiginous big times. i saw donovan perform live when i was in the air force. there have been live performances at ren faires, i don't remember anyone's names from. there were some other (entertainment) people that i met but have never been at a public venue where they performed. that would include april bellows (chier) jimmy seals and dosh crofts and their wives and brothers. including the members of chicago also redbone ash and i seem to be distantly related to allan kanisberg (not a musician, but comedic actor director producer, stage name of woodrow) and that guy who played jazz on a bent trumpet. i forget his mundane name, but we used to have baha'i meetings over at his hous. oh and there was a mariachi trio, trio amigos or something like that, that lived down the street from me in roseville. i think i may have actually seen them perform at the county fair held in that same town. and the flute player, marry youngblood. oh and then science fiction conventions again. i think i met robert zimmerman at one in 1984, along with his mother/aunt, whatever their relationship, marion zimmerman bradly, or something like that anyway. there was a girl i was in the 8th grade with who became an actress and an older woman who had been a child star, and then, later in life became an official u.s. ambassador to somewhere, who also lived in colfax california at the time. i've also probably met several members of jefferson airplane/starship, when i had friends living in the grass valley/nevada city area of northern california. i like the idea of concerts and festivals, but i really haven't gotten around to going to very many of them. there's probably a somewhat longer list of science fiction authors i've met at conventions. (and i know there's more then one i've read for nearly every letter of the alphabet. several mystery and fantasy writers as well) i had to stretch a bit to remember all of that. like i said, i haven't really been to many concert or festival performances. for someone who doesn't live for being entertained, the way some people seem to (but is interested in creating visual illustrations of what i like to think could be) , i seem to have filled a page with something after all.
Amon Amarth x3 The Amenta x2 Motörhead Cradle of Filth Goatwhore Behemoth x2 Korpiklaani Cannibal Corpse x2 Skinless Alchemy Fear Factory Rob Zombie Metallica Slayer Insane Clown Posse x2 Big Hoodoo Boondox Kid Krusher Carcass Cattle Decapitation The Faceless Nile x2 Cold Chisel Marsha Hindes Anthrax Linkin Park Abigail Williams Hatebreed Satyricon Mayhem DeathStars Steve Earle That's all I can think of right now but plenty more really if I go through a festival line up I'd probably add a lot more. I will be seeing Kid Krusher, Boondox and Blaze Ya Dead Homie again later in the year.
I saw many of the artists all ready named in this forum, so I'll tell you who I met instead: Jimi Hendrix, Leon Russell, Paul McCartney, The Doobies (right before they changed their name from Pud), the Lovin' Spoonful, Graham Nash, Steven Stills, Johnny Rivers, who else... man, I can't remember. That may be it.
meat loaf quick silver james brown buffy st marie cat stevens seals and crofts wishbone ash of that era i've never been to a lot of live music venues, almost none back then. those last four were free concerts on the unr campus in the early 70s. wishbone was an intertribal thing and seals and crofts and their wives and then their relatives and friends, which included members of chicago and wishbone, there was the baha'is had a center in reno where i got to meet them. i've seen people since then, but probably not names anyone would know. every one i did was an odd set of circumstances people i know of now from this decade are from the furrys, in the 80s it was science fiction people but in the 70s it was mostly through the baha'is
Let's see..... I haven't seen a live group since the 80's. I can't remember the 70's and am trying to forget the 80's.... So, I donno.

Bob Dylan Aerosmith REO Speedwagon Blue Oyster Cult ...a few I forgot... Eagles, at $18 a ticked, I thought it was crazy and would never do concerts again. Joe Walsh Some 80's snd beyond. Muse a couple of years ago. I was almost ashamed of the crowd. I have seen lines at the post office with more energy. They were watching the band on their phones. I do not promote chaos, but damn...
