I hate it for two main reasons: 1. The text fills the entire screen width, making it extremely difficult to read for people like me who view at high resolutions. It also places the start of every line over on the left of the screen, meaning I have to lean over to read through the subject titles for example, whereas before they were right in the middle. 2. I had to turn javascripting on just to write this! I have no objection to javascript for frills and effects, but I don't like sites that force you to turn it on. On the plus side: 1. The graphics are a lot better now. 2. The pages are much neater. 3. The coding is better. 4. The colours are better, too! 5. Oh, and better options. In summary, I'm probably glad it changed. Just annoyed about having to turn on javascript to make posts, and not being able to read things very easily.
I'm just trying out posting on the new forum and I didn't have to turn on JavaScript to write this. I'm glad it's enough of a learning curve.
Well, I wasn't sure at first, but I'm getting used to things around here, and improvements are being made all the time.
The only problems I've had with the new site is figuring out how everything works. I'm computer stupid, so it took awhile. But, I've come to really like the new forum.
I am also computer dumb, so I had a hard time figuring everything out. And the only regret that I have is that I miss my forum. But someday we will get those back (hopefully) and then all will be well. Overall, I like the new ones better and they are so much faster.
Good news, you dont have to use JS....go to USER CP and pick your options, change your editor from WYSIWYG to the standard editor, and poof, no more js requirement.
Excellent! Thanks xaosflux! Don't suppose there's any way to limit the width of the text column in the user prefs? And is there any way to display all the forums in a line of text, like before? The new style is very confusing when you're trying to find a particular forum. Oh, by the way, if there are any admin reading this, I'm a graphic/web designer and always happy to supply graphics (like, if you need anything on the new forum hippie-fying).
