"trendy metal'ish bands".....that's funny because "trendy" is so ummm...not metal. Metal is so much more than screaming and loud guitars it's a statement, it's an attitude, it is the proverbial "FUCK YOU" to the people that want to look down their noses usually from the hill of hypocracy....Then again I'm a thrash head so "FU" would be part of the appeal for me. Paul Di'anno is cool but I do think Maiden made the right decision w/ his replacement. Killers is a tremendous album not to be forgotten so good call. Mustaine is at the top of the heap for me but if we're talking "scream-ability"....Halford rules the kingdom...to me anyway.

Unfortunately, Trendy has become a huge part of metal to the masses, and metalheads are some of the most stuck up people I can think of. Egotistical self serving twats. There's some good ones too, though, don't get me wrong.

Definitely disagree on the Iron Maiden thing. Bruce sucks balls, and maiden has turned into a commercial pop-metal act, and unfortunately, they have no more of a chance to go back to their roots than former greats such as Metallica or Megadeth.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on a couple of those things....Mustaine while having somewhat changed is the same today as he was back in the day...granted he has tried a few different things musically (especially Risk), he is every bit as thrash as he ever was. Perhaps he lacks the personal energy he once had but jeez...cut him some slack...dudes getting older and quite frankly in some ways his newer music has gotten heavier in a sense....his music has turned to the self within rather than concept or fantasy.

Metallica?????...now that is a different sell-out story altogether and I think Mustaines departure from them was the best thing that ever happened to the thrash world. Metallica can take "music up your ass" and shove it up their asses....they completely sold out and became a parody of themselves which is simply laughable....talented...yes, of course....admirable...not a chance. My mommas boy brother-in-law banker LOVES Metallica....that kinda' says it all doesn't it?

To say Bruce Dickenson sucks is just idiotic but hey I and everybody else should respect the fact that everybody has an opinion so that's cool.

Hate to break it to you, but Megadeth is by far a parody of its original self. Atleast Metallica has tried to keep it's members together. Dave faked an injury and fired his crew. C'mon. Dave is little more than a born again christian loudmouth. He wouldn't play with Rotting Christ in Greece because of their name. NICE.

Do you have any idea how many mommas boy brother-in-law's listen to Megadave?

Dickinson has a soft, fairy-tale telling voice in practically every newer song they've wrote. They're off track man, snap out of it.

I will not disagree Maidens best days are likely behind them but to discount them as being less than influential to the metal genre' is just silly.... to write off Bruce Dickenson is simply absurd. How you surmise Megadeth as being a parody of itself is beyond me....I notice your avatar lists you at being a mere twenty years old.....about twenty + years ago is when all this Metallica/Megadeth stuff was happening and they really began coming on the scene....what were you doing at that time....well I was there bro'...trust me....Metallica is loathed for a reason. Mustaine has demonstrated and continues to demonstrate genuine character if for no other reason then to have stayed true to himself. Has Dave tried some other avenues musically????Yes..he has...he has written some music that is "radio friendly" but there is still a heaviness about it and dark truth in his words...his idea of a "poppy" sound if you will. I maintain Mustaine is THE man in the thrash world. To down Mustaine for not wanting to associate himself with anti-christ culture (even in a name) is retarded....I'd say it's more metal to be yourself and to say fuck what the metal business is doing or who may be popular then to compromise your beliefs....that's what it is all about!

How many Metallica shows have you been to?

How many Megadeth shows have you been to?

Based upon your fanboy analysis...you have been to alot of shows because according to you Mustaine fills the seats with wannabe's looking to proclaim themselves as being "off the hook".

I remember James' battlecry "We are Metallica, You are Metallica".....at that time when "No life 'til Leather" was on the street that translated into...FUCK YOU Motley Crue...FUCK YOU Poison....FUCK YOU to anybody that would look down at us and see insignifigance.....pop culture can suck our_____! Well....times they-a-changed haven't they...Metallica shit on those that believed they were something when everybody else said they were nothing but now your little sister or your brother-in-law banker is ROCKING OUT....they go to a concert and coin themselves a fan....Metallica gives them a media to proclaim, "I'm wide fucking open!!!!".......BAM...P-A-R-O-D-Y !!!! They have become everything they said they were against....now...how has Dave Mustaine done that???

No doubt, Metallica isn't thrash now, they're on their own, doing whatever for whoever and I don't pay attention to it.

Megadeth is just as bad, dave is not the "man", he's a parody. He's a religious freak who is into the coffee business now. He's no thrash giant. Dave has written some good songs, but he's written loads of shitty ones. Countdown to Extinction as a whole was a horrible step for megadeth and they haven't gotten any better since. some of the 90's stuff is listenable, but the rest is garbage, UA is a horribly boring album with too much focus on saying as much as possible in one song. WHINING, an old man whining about things he knows very little about. NICE.

Dave could have pulled out of the show in greece, he could have let Rotting Christ play instead, hell, it would have been a better show. I mean, what would you rather hear? Coronation of the Serpent or Use The Man? bahahahaha.

Mustaine has character alright, whining, holier than thou, my way or no way character. Amazing. I mean, look at the bands he's taking on Gigantour, its absolutely pathetic how out of touch he is with the metal world. Give us something worth seeing, Dave.

By the way, I never said Maiden weren't influencial, but that has little to do with a chirping vocalist. Steve Harris is a great bassist, it's too bad he's stuck in a creative rut.

By the way, when dave was dabbling in satanic crap, he was against god, now what's he doing? Sucking him off.

Every band and vocalist gets old some time, and to me Bruce Dickinson is one of the greatest metal singers because of his scream and that I didn't dig the latest albums of Iron Maiden won't change that at all. The sands of time for me are running low! Running loooooooooooooooooooooww yeah!! Yeah man. :D
Don't forget what made a band like that great! Ignore the decline, it will only piss you off.

Some of my favorites for a controlled scream, not just aggrissive, would be the singers from Iced Earth and Manowar, and for a long even note, old Iron Maiden. Just to name a few, but there's so many out there.
